I was not always a fortunate man,

not always was I given the best hand.

Oh, I would scream and I would cry,

I wonder how many times God heard "Why?"

In time I learned the problem was me,

so I hardened my face, and payed every fee.

Now I bluff deuces with ease.

I was not always an honest man,

I would bet too grand and I've been out manned.

But damn if I won't play every hand,

and try to make glass out of sand.
