Portrait in Progress...
This portrait was originally started in charcoal during my recent drawing marathon. While I enjoyed the softness the charcoal provided, there was something more I wanted to express in paint. So here we go! *STEP ONE* 8x8" oil on panel Block in the painting using a transparent mixture of Gamblin Artist Colors Asphaltum with just a touch of Perylene Red and Ultramarine Blue... While I try to stay true to the values in the reference, it is not critical at this point. It is more of a loose map gesturing where certain shapes and values go. Next: Opaque skin tones!
