I always seem to have a naming question. Perhaps, it's just an editing question. I do not have trouble coming up with what I think are adequate, if not always clear titles for my paintings. If you are new to my work, you will soon learn that I consider it lazy not to title a painting. It seems to be akin to not having finished the work. Many of my titles come from literary or cultural references, and in this way give a not too ambiguous clue as to what I had in mind when creating the work.
Case in point, is Promises Kept. As an alcohol ink on paper painting, it is obviously abstract and very colorful, almost rainbow like. That suggested the first title, which may even be written on the back. (I do edit the back when the final title occurs.) "GOD MAKES PROMISES MAN CANNOT BREAK." But then this is really more about a field of wildflowers rather than a flood and a covenant with Noah.
Thanks for stopping in. I hope you will swing by again.
