Putting Infinity in Buckets
How do you convert all the colors we see, temperatures we feel, and sound we hear into something a computer can use? Analog sensors capture what is happening in the environment and have an infinite number of possible voltage values. Digital signals have two states. The converter compromises between an infinite number of possible values and two values but creating a set number of voltage buckets.

This video is an overview of this conversion. It shows you how to take  a stimulus in the world and convert it to a number in your code that correlates to a physical quantity.
