Putting Infinity in Buckets
How do you convert all the colors we see, temperatures we feel, and sound we hear into something a computer can use? Analog sensors capture what is happening in the environment and have an infinite number of possible voltage values. Digital signals have two states. The converter compromises between an infinite number of possible values and two values but creating a set number of voltage buckets.
