Q&A #3: Does the curse on Jeconiah invalidate the Messiahship of Jesus?
The curse on Jeconiah has been used by unbelievers to call the Messiahship of Jesus into question, and amillennialists think they can use this issue to deny the covenanted kingdom over which Messiah is to reign. The answer is that the curse was conditional and was overturned, as seen in the name Shealtiel (Talmud) and was understood as such by the ancient Jews (i.e., as Matthew in his gospel). A parallel example, and parallel concepts in Scripture are also provided.
