A few years ago I was really lucky, and got to participate in a sketch-from-a-prompt project with an informal group of artists. Each day, a new prompt would be posted, and we'd all come up with sketches inspired by the prompt. I was the only 'creative coder' in the group.
It wasn't very long. The group sort of faded away after about a month. But it was really fun, and I got a lot out of it while it lasted.
The best part? Getting sketching prompts from artists who worked lots of different mediums, and then thinking about what kind of image I could create with code for that prompt.
The prompt for the sketch in this post was "Runway-ready dress on Jupiter, as imagined by someone on Earth in the 1950s".
I would never have thought up a prompt like that for myself, and I would never have created a sketch like this without that prompt.
I posted the source code for the sketches on github: http://kristinhenry.github.io/Sketches2014/
