Sergeant's Hill
I originally intended to call this one The Flop - it's a poker thing - but decided it was too ambigious.

Also, note to self: when you FINISH  a thing, POST it. This was all ready to go on Sunday, and ought to have been out by now! My apologies. I'll do my best to make sure that doesn't happen again.

In this Great War tale Corporal Cookson, card mechanic, finds himself up against Sergeant Mackinaw, a hard man who's discovered Cookson's cheating ways. Cookson knows he has to do something but will his courage hold out? And what's all this talk about a witch-bird haunting the 15th New York Volunteer Infantry Regiment's trenches? Can Cookson use that to his advantage, or is he about to make the biggest sucker bet of his life?
