Short Story: "To the Bone"
Been too long since I gave you something, so here's my Southern Gothic style story "To the Bone." This audio first appeared on CrimeWAV with guest host Mark L. Berry--my boy! Man, props to Mark for amping it up here. Thanks, Mark!

And thanks to patron Kevin Hesselton for the encouragement and asking for more stories. Kevin, I think if you liked "Jordan in the Time of Cold War," you'll like this one too.

"To the Bone" was published in The Booked. Anthology back in 2013. Thanks much to the Booked. Podcast guys, who're also on Patreon here. Working on a new talk-interview with them that I'll keep you posted on soon.

I don't know where this story came from, but I wrote it back in SF about 5 years ago. It feels very Faulkner-influenced and, since I've just picked up Go Down, Moses again for the first time in a LONG time, I thought of it and wanted to pull it back out. Where did these characters come from, Duncan and Estep? Neither of them PC or forgiving or un-rotten, and yet here they are. I'm re-reading the story "Pantaloon in Black" by WF now, and if you're looking for a good read you could do a lot worse than to start there.

Anyway, that's my background on this one and the reading tip for the month.

I'll be back with more soon, including Triad Death Match, The Maltese Jordans, and much more!

Update: Basement remodeled, mold remediated, and yer boy getting back into the swing. I'll have the new boom mic plugged in and recording soon.

For today, I hope you enjoy this.
