Some Patreon changes for 2016 (mostly involving Kasiyahan.me).
Hello to all my lovely Patreons!

(Belated) Happy New Year! :) I hope it's been a good one for all of you so far.

Some of you might have noticed I did a little restructuring of my Patreon campaign (again) - to address a few things that needed to be addressed.

One thing is that I've removed Kasiyahan.me-specific goals and rewards. I've realized that while I do get a lot of fulfillment out of my self-care advocacy, I put so much pressure onto myself that I ended up burning out just thinking about making a post for it... I ended up not finishing anything, and yes, I did lose some patrons in the process. I really, sincerely apologize for that.

Though I may still create Kasiyahan posts from time to time and post them here if I have any ideas, I'll be focusing on my own for-fun projects in this specific campaign for now instead of making it my regularly monthly project. I think in the future, once I know I do indeed have more time to dedicate to self-care advocacy, I might set up a separate Patreon campaign for it.

The reason for that is that I've realized that trying to take on Kasiyahan on my own has caused a great deal of stress for me. Maintaining it as a one-person operation - considering the scale of the things I want to do - just doesn't seem feasible anymore, especially with a combination of my full-time day job and my graduate studies.

Something I'd love to do is create a sort of group or network of self-care advocates, so I'd also like to enlist the help of my friends, but I'd like to make sure they're fairly compensated for their time and effort.

In short: I did not end up doing much self-care for myself while working on self-care advocacy. It's one of those things where you've turned your advocacy into both your job and your hobby until it burns you out. How can I advocate for self-care when I haven't even been taking care of myself?

In case any of my lovely Patreons were here mainly for the self-care posts, I want to be transparent that I may not be able to come up with them on a regular monthly basis anymore, as I'd like to rekindle my personal relationship with my art and writing. But I will definitely update you all if I happen to start Kasiyahan back up. If any of my patrons were here for the self-care articles, and would like to adjust their pledges accordingly, I more than understand :)

I want to make more regular posts here on my Patreon - for free - and not just end-products, too. I'll be setting up a backers-exclusive blog shortly, for the reward-specific ones. I want to make it a goal to update you all at least weekly on what I've been up to.

I also want to engage on a more regular basis with my patrons. I feel I haven't been doing it as much. I might have limited time, but I'll be sure to carve even a few minutes out of every day to start a conversation with you all - I love getting your feedback, and being able to assist in any way I can for your own goals :)

Please let me know if you have any questions for me and I'll be more than happy to address them. :)

Thank you so much for sticking with me throughout the years, despite this Patreon's multiple identity crises. I sincerely appreciate your patience and understanding.

Stay awesome!

Love lots,

Mel

P. S. My partner and I are currently working on a small game for My First Game Jam... I'll be sharing a progress post shortly!
