Some Queer Short SFF - October 2018
Hi all and welcome to another month of queer short SFF. There's a lot to get to this month, but first I want to draw your attention to something a little closer to home. Namely, that if you care about queer SFF, there's a queer SFF writer that could use some help. My husband/spouse, Matthias Klein, is running a GoFundMe to cover top surgery and legal protection from nir stalkers, and any and all help is greatly appreciated by both of us. Thanks!

Okay, now the stories. As I said, there is a lot! And there's probably quite a bit more that I'm missing. I should say that I'm sure there's more than the one story listed below in the Broad Knowledge: 35 Women Up To No Good anthology. I will try to keep my ears open and include any more I find out about on next month's list. Aside from that, it was a big month from a number of publications. Uncanny Magazine (as part of their Disabled People Destroy Science Fiction!) had three, as did both Beneath Ceaseless Skies and Strange Horizons. Shimmer, Lightspeed, and Fiyah all had two stories each, and there were a number of single stories and quite a few novellas as well. So it's a good month to be a fan of queer short SFF!

I kinda got this up late because I'm a mess and dealing with some stuff, but I hope people like what's here and definitely let me know if there's more I can add! Cheers!

The rules/disclaimer: judging what is and what is not queer short SFF is fraught and I own that I will probably miss things that were definitely queer that I couldn't tell were intended to be queer or that I missed in the text itself. Which is how I try to decide what goes on and what does not. That said, this list is not meant to be comprehensive nor definitive. It's based largely on my own reading of stories or the intention of the author (through asking to be included on the list). If you have stories that I've missed, or if I've included stories you don't want on this list, please let me know and I will do what I can to edit. Further, stories on this list are not necessarily recommended for their queer content, and I make no requirement that stories must be #ownvoices. If you want more notes on any of the stories that I have read, you can search them on Quick Sip Reviews for possible content warnings. Thank you!
