Stepane Grappelli & Martin Taylor - Montreal 1984
I hope you've enjoyed my October posts. There's another 'Studio Session' and 'Concert Video' coming up soon to kick off November and I also have a Surprise Gift lined up which I'm sure will start getting everyone in the  festive mood.

In the meantime, here's a little clip that I thought you would enjoy. Some of you may have already seen this on YouTube but I thought I'd post it here to tell you the story behind my guitar solo on this.

Usually, Stephane would only give me one chorus on a tune to do my thing, but on this night he'd had a couple of large Chivas Regal whiskies and was feeling in a fine and generous mood.

When it came to my solo on 'Pent Up House' I played my usual one chorus improvised solo, then I could hear Stephane behind me shouting "Play another!"

I'd already paced my solo for one chorus, so had to slip down a gear so I could take it up again. I then realised that Stephane wanted me to really stretch out so I had to give it my all and go flat out on this solo.

I was flying by the seat of my pants here because this extended solo had come as a surprise to me.

If you want to see the full concert you can find it on my YouTube Channel along with many other vintage videos of Stephane and myself.
