Strawberries in their own juice! A Tasty Thursday video
Oooh it's strawberry season. Luscious, perfect, ripe with deliciousness strawberries. What's better than a berry eaten right out of hand?

A berry sliced and sprinkled with just a touch of sugar and let to release its unbelievable juices,  that's what.

Oooooh yes. You'll want to eat these on everything. Toast (it's a fast jam, right?). Cheese. Cereal. Yogurt. Ice cream.

Or you can go all out and douse an angel food cake with whipped cream and these babies.

My mouth is watering already.

Macerated strawberries

1 TBS sugar per pound of berries

  • 1. Wash and slice berries, and put in a bowl large enough to hold them all.
  • 2. Sprinkle with sugar, and toss gently to combine.
  • 3. Let sit at room temperature at least 30 minutes, or until the berries start to release their juices.
  • 4. Put in the fridge (if you have time) or not - serve these over ANYTHING. Teenagers particularly approve them on angel food cake with whipped cream. You're welcome.

MUSIC THANKS TO (track name: Soda Pop.)
