What's New in 2019?

This year SWAN Days Allegany County NY is hoping to expand to include local performing artists. So far, SWAN Day Allegany County has been a way to feature local female visual artists working in all genres. This is largely due to logistics.

This year, we are in search of a NEW Venue that allows space for our female performing artists to do their thing.

Possible Things include: puppet theatre, spoken word, skits, and even full length theatrical performances should a venue be available for such a Thing.

Fingers crossed we find one in time for the 2019 Activities!

" As part of our ongoing efforts to increase the visibility of women artists, Statera Foundation puts the spotlight on women artists every March and April through Support Women Artists Now Day.

Support Women Artists Now Day/SWAN Day is an annual international celebration of women’s creativity and gender parity activism, which was co-founded by Martha Richards of WomenArts and Jan Lisa Huttner of FF2 Media in 2008. WomenArts led SWAN Day from 2008 – 2018 and selected Statera Foundation to lead SWAN Day starting in 2019.... SWAN Day is a grassroots effort that is being coordinated by Statera Foundation and WomenArts through our website. Everyone is invited to help us create this new holiday. No fees or application forms are required. "~ StateraArts

"SWAN Day/Support Women Artists Now Day is an international holiday designed to showcase the power and diversity of women’s creativity. Be a part of SWAN Day by creating or participating in a local event or online activity that celebrates women artists!

The official date for the Twelfth International SWAN Day is Saturday, March 30, 2019, the last Saturday of March, but please feel free to celebrate it any time during March or April that is convenient for you. The spirit of SWAN events is far more important than the exact dates.

There have been over 1,700 SWAN Day events in 36 countries in the first eleven years of this new holiday." ~Women Arts
