The "real Mayberry's" Floyd the barber, Mr. Russell Hiatt, passed away on 3 May 2016. He was a staple of Mt. Airy, NC, a friend to fans of The Andy Griffith Show, and just an all around loved figure of what Mayberry can really be in someone's life.
In this episode we'll be revisiting an interview I did with Russell Hiatt back on Two Chairs No Waiting episodes 26 & 27. Russell was the owner of Floyd's City Barbershop located right next door to the Snappy Lunch on Main Street in Mt. Airy. Russell was "Floyd" to those that visit Mt. Airy and he was a wonderful friend to all who knew him.
The interview was recorded on April 24, 1998 in the back room of the barbershop so there's a good bit of conversation in the background but I know you'll find it worth listening.
God bless you, Russell, and your family for sharing you with us all.
