This is an improved Tech squad - it really is. I don't think anyone but the Red Raider die hards predicted them to go through OOC play undefeated - the expectation was that they would be out of bowl contention early. That didn't happen. Tech swept its OOC slate (Houston,Arizona State) played OSU close in a loss and looked respectable enough to end up ranked after blowing out Kansas.
It's the Air Raid - They are gonna sling it Nic Shimonek isn't what Pat Mahomes was - he is no where near as dynamic on the fly as Pat . The offense is still the offense and Tech will sling it for 350 yards a game easy. OU will have to play solid defense to keep this game from turning back into a funky shootout.
Shimonek seems a bit skittish in the pocket and the Tech OL isn't exactly rock steady OU should be able to get pressure rushing three on a few downs at the very least. Justin Stockton is a serviceable running back- more than capable of catching out of the backfield or popping a long run.
Names to know WRs: Keke Coutee, Dylan Cantrell
The best player for Tech is without a doubt Dakota Allen - he is a star and carries a lot of the load for this Tech defense. It seems like the bottom has fallen out now after a strong start. The defense that playing respectable ball early has come back down to Earth now giving up some 436 yards a game on average. I'd chalk that up to defensive depth.
DC> Gibbs has them playing decently but it just seems like they're outmanned in the front 7 - which allows QBs to excel and eventually RBs to pop.
For Tech to win: They need this game to become about trading scores - an area where we have struggled so far this season.
