BOOK 07 of 66  | Judges 16

Signpost Words | ‘HOW TO BECOME BALD & BLIND’

Highlight Verses | Judges 16:21-22

Then the Philistines took him and put out his eyes, and brought him down to Gaza. They bound him with bronze fetters, and he became a grinder in the prison. However, the hair of his head began to grow again after it had been shaven. (NSB)

Some Observations |

Samson is one of the Bible characters that does nothing to inspire me. He was a sex-maniac, an hedonistic numpty, a big head with big muscles, and yes, I do think he was a big guy. I don’t like him. For me, Samson epitomizes so many current so-called Evangelical preachers who have messed up sexually and have ruined their ministries, their marriages, their families and their very lives. They are all become bald and blind, mocked and shackled and hid away in the darkness of a dungeon of their own making. Shame on them.

Final Reflections  |

Yet, in Hebrews 11:32, the writers says, “And what more shall I say? For time would fail me to tell of Gideon and Barak and Samson à who through faith subdued kingdoms, worked righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions, quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, became valiant in battle, turned to flight the armies of the aliens….” (NSB) Yes, Samson is a hero of the faith, mentioned in the Hebrews 11 hall of fame. Look now, for his hair grew back. Look now, for his true sight was recovered. Look again, for his strength returned. Look lastly, for he did more damage to the enemy in his death than he did in his life. Thank God that there is hope for the fallen. Yes, fallen brother, if you are still alive, then there is hope.

EVENING | HISTORICAL BOOKS

BOOK 07 of 66  | Judges 17,18

Signpost Words | ‘IN THE HOUSE OF DENMARK’

Highlight Verses | Judges 17:10-13

“Dwell with me, and be a father and a priest to me, and I will give you ten shekels of silver per year, a suit of clothes, and your sustenance.” à. Then the Levite was content to dwell with the man; and the young man became like one of his sons to him. So Micah consecrated the Levite, and the young man became his priest, and lived in the house of Micah. Then Micah said, "Now I know that YAHWEH will be good to me, since I have a Levite as priest!" (NSB)

Some Observations

I have previously worked in the Religious industry, it is a dark and miserable place. Churches deceive themselves in seeking ‘God’s man’ for their pulpit and then line up sometimes a hundred for the choosing, and, like horny old Xerxes, they whittle down their candidates to find their Esther, that trophy wife of Pastor for their own right arm, that smart little pet for their own short leash. Now YAHWEH will do them good.

Final Reflections  |

We have created the religious industry. The denominations have built their Seminarian factories that churn out young men who have paid a heavy price for a piece of paper, and the diminishing outlets of churches have their pick of a hundred or more God-called candidates to choose from, a man too often of their own self-deceived choosing. If they are assured that this seminarian product is indeed God’s man, then why the short term contracts and the legal documentation, why the unsatisfied porn addicted Pastors, & diminishing congregations?
