In between that, I've been working on a very rough, manga-style sketch of Leviticus on my new Huion Pro610 tablet. It's been a decent quality tablet so far, for a beginner like me, and it was very affordable. I used to draw years ago, and was hoping to get back into the hobby, so my wonderful husband bought the tablet for me as a gift.
The biggest difference I've noticed between sketching on the tablet vs. sketching on paper is the feel of the surface. The tablet is slick, and I've had a hard time getting used to that. I've actually placed a regular piece of paper between my stylus and the tablet's surface to give it a bit more friction, and that's helped a lot. For me at least, there is quite a learning curve going from paper to a tablet. Getting my lines curved right is still a challenge, so I've been doing a lot of clean-up as I go. And don't get me started on the hair. So far, that has been the hardest to draw on the tablet, and what's in the sketch now is definitely NOT what's going to end up being his hair.
If it was, I'm pretty sure he would hunt me down and give me a buzz cut in the middle of the night.
I'm sure there will be a lot more sketching and correcting before I start inking it, but I'm happy with the overall attitude he has so far.
