Today's Comic> Star Mage #6
Star Mage #6 FINAL ISSUE IDW (September, 2014) WRITER/CREATOR: JC De La Torre ARTIST: Franco Cespedes ASSISTANT EDITOR: Cori Zaragoza EDITOR: Tom Waltz Separated from his friends, Darien must battle Orasmas and their mind-controlled father. Meanwhile, the others must engage in their own battles to reach their friend. And more help is coming from an old home, where trouble is bubbling under the water. What they got right: A satisfying end to the first (hopefully not last) miniseries. These are good characters and I want to see where the next storyline would go. Plus learn how an Earthling born of Earthlings can manipulate Kipshu and who the man who turns into a dog is. There's also a potential love triangle but I can't go further without spoilers. What they got wrong: The back-up story, about a vampire who is missing traits of most fiction and Twilight style vampires, is rather bloody and dark for a title I could have sworn was all-ages (or at least thus far has been kid-friendly) comic. This was a bad choice to add to the comic, even if it is buried by enough ads you hope the kid stops reading at the cliffhanger ending. Recommendation: I hope IDW greenlights a second miniseries or, better yet, an ongoing. this was a good start and I really want to see more. Support this comic and hopefully we will.
