Transatlantic Passage #10. Bird attacks, Dolphins visit and Thanks Giving Dinner at Sea. Ep113

Hello Cruisers,

So here is the latest episode.  In this latest episode we have beautiful weather but I am starting to get a bit stressed because of how low the winds are every day and how slow our progress is.  You see, I asked before I got on the boat, what was the worst case scenario for how long it would take to do the passage because I had a week long course for work scheduled.  I was told that we should get in around Nov 25-27th.  The owner and his wife were suppose to fly into St Lucia on the 27th and it was their plan to get on board.  So to be safe I booked a flight home on Dec 2nd.    That seemed like a safe buffer of extra time and I expected Dan and I would end up having to get an AirBnB for all the days from the 27th to Dec 2nd.  But now with all the low winds the ETA to arrive is Dec 4th.  In coming episodes we get so becalmed that the computer actually said Dec 25th.  Paul had decided before we left St Lucia that since he had always had strong winds in the past that he did not need to fill all the fuel tanks.  He left 1 of the 3 fuel tanks empty and only filled the other two 2/3 full.  So, with all the motoring we have been doing in the overnights when there was no wind, we are now getting dangerously low in fuel.  Soon we barely use the motors at all even when becalmed.

So that is the backstory, or behind the scenes info  that I like to give just you our beloved patrons.

Thanks so much for your continued support of the channel.

Craig and Janice

Here is the regular video description that everyone else sees:

Ep113 - In this episode of Cruising Off Duty, we continue our Transatlantic Sailing Passage series.  We cover days 9 through 12 of the passage.  You will see that a bird flies into our boat and hits me in the head.  We have a massive pod of dolphins swim at our bow for longer than I have ever seen and we try and make our lone American, Dan, feel at home by making a Thanks Giving Dinner on board with all the fixings.  It was a great few days of laughs and beautiful weather with our first perfect sunset.  Now if we could only get some sustained winds the passage would be perfect.  We are falling farther and farther behind schedule.
