Online conferences and conventions are springing up, and I'll be taking part in several. The preliminary program is here:
ConTamination (originally Sept 12-13; postponed to 2021)
- Planetary protection panel: I was meant to interview Dr. Petra Rettberg and other scientists about the issue of planetary protection, extremophile life and upcoming missions, but the convention was postponed to next year due to time issues in the organizational team.
FutureCon (Sept 17-20)
- Future East Europe: Overcoming barriers in Croatia, Czech Republic, Greece, and Russia (Sept 17, 9 p.m. CEST; panel with Andrey Malishkin, Aleksander Žiljak, Natalia Theodoridou, and yours truly)
The convention is free, but please support it if you can.
Futuricon (Eurocon 2020) (Oct 2-4)
- panel "Strange New Things": Writing in a Foreign Tongue (Julie Novakova, Jan Kotouč, Lucie Lukačovičová)
- talk "Life everywhere? Science fiction vs. astrobiology"
All programming is accessible only to registered attendees (still able to register), but the opening, award and closing ceremonies will be streamed freely.
Scientific conferences/online events
RAS early career poster exhibition (starting Sept 14)
I'm submitting a poster (deadline in a few days), so if it's accepted, it will be displayed online along with other posters. Wait for the hashtag #RASposter2020.
EPSC2020 (Sept 21 - Oct 4)
I'll be presenting Strangest of All and future activities of the SF outreach & education team at the conference.
Finally, we'll be doing a series of online lectures and scientist/SF writer dual interviews at the European Astrobiology Institute starting this fall. More about that very soon!
