We Shall Win: Maxine Waters
I wish Maxine Waters was in the Senate or at least one person followed her lead, because she is what our country needs.

Maxine Waters is a representative from California, one who I deeply respect because she has no f*cks to give. She isn’t perfect (I look at actions when I judge an elected official.) but when she speaks I usually agree with what she says.

And the way she is standing up to Trump, she’s a leader. She should be in Diane Feinstein’s seat. Then, just maybe we could have began laying the ground work for Trump’s eventual impeachment.

Our Democratic leaders have failed us. They are not on the side of the American people, either.

I am under no illusion that the Democratic party will save us because they have only done tepid actions to stop Trump. Diane Feinstein, for example, has voted for 7 of the 14 cabinet positions. Nobody has voted no on all of them. (Kirsten Gillibrand has the best record so far only voting for Nikki Haley, so we are represented at the UN now by a woman who thinks racism is okay, and David Shulkin, who is actually qualified to head the VA and has spent his life in medicine and as a public servant.)

There are 2 very obvious reasons to vote against everyone Trump puts up. 1) Without the filibuster they will all be approved, so even people like David Shulkin, who is actually capable and experienced will still be seated. So this way as a politician when Trump’s Administration screws up, you have already separated yourself from this Cabinet member. 2) You try to slow down the process so less damage can be done.

When Obama was elected, I assumed he would have come in and unwound the Bush Administration’s war crimes and mechanisms that made Bush so unpopular. To paraphrase Chris Hedges in “https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/156858542X/ref=as_li_qf_sp_asin_il_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=jandreworldso-20&camp=1789&creative=9325&linkCode=as2&creativeASIN=156858542X&linkId=62146c4553d128a8a32ce933c80cea69">Wages of Rebellion,” as long as the tools of a police state exist, even if they are not being used, we live in a totalitarian state. Obama did not unwind the surveillance state, nor did he convict war criminals from the Bush administration, and he doubled down on the drone program, leaving Donald Trump with access to a totalitarian state.

This is why Clinton didn’t inspire the American people because she was a continuation of the status quo that is failing a lot of people. When Obama ran, he ran against the excesses of the Bush administration, and we the people assumed he would do what we imagined he would do. I mean, he’s a Constitutional lawyer, but as Chris Hayes said, “We all write Barack Obama fan fiction.” Sadly, our fan fiction has failed us.

The Democratic party will not save us, but we can. We must force our representatives to represent us. We must call, write, protest, agitate, and even get arrested from time to time. Not everyone is able to do these things, however, we all have to do some of that so we can find victory.

Finally we have to replace everyone in the Senate, even Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren. (Both of whom I like.) Maxine Waters had multiple times tried to lay the ground work by http://www.slate.com/blogs/the_slatest/2017/01/06/democrats_disrupt_trump_s_electoral_college_certification.html" title="">challenging the Electoral College certification and (as he was supposed to do) Joe Biden shut her down because not one senator would join her motion to call into debate the electoral college results. Nobody. Not Kristen Gillibrand and Cory Booker who plan on running in 2020 who could have done it. Not Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders who are supposed to be the most liberal representatives we have (And who each voted for more of Trump’s cabinet than Kristen Gillibrand has). Nobody. Not one.

Sorry for the sound effect in the video. However, it was the best one I could find. However, it cut the 2-minute standing ovation Republicans gave Joe Biden. This is revolting how spineless not only our Senate is but Joe Biden, too. He could have trolled the Senate and still followed the rules.

This is why we need to have a better Congress. Check out Justice Democrats and see who in your area is running and get involved, they are trying to fix this. Only then can we wipe that smug look off Paul Ryan’s face.

Don’t get me wrong, challenging the certification like that would not have stopped Trump from becoming President, however, it would have planted a flag in the ground for Trump’s opposition. Possibly laid the ground work for his possible, and hopefully eventual, impeachment. It’s not just Trump that has to understand we are against him, it’s our elected representatives, too.
