Writing Updates

This Week's Fiction Wordcount: 0

This Week's Non-Fiction Wordcount: 5,083

Wow. This week was. It was. A lot. It feels like I wrote easily twice as much nonfiction even when I know I haven't at all. That's how heavy the latest Let's Read Academics is. OMG!

Life And Other Such Important Matters

Life is... Well, it is. Let's leave it at that. The situation I'm in is... less than ideal and likely to stay that way for the foreseeable future, so I'm focusing on things that move in a positive direction. It's something that they taugh me in the course my university councellors pushed me into - which, the less said about it the better, but this bit I liked - and it's when you don't have big positive things to consider, focus on small things. Like morning walks with pets and the ability to sing (even if I do not have the breath control to sing it and can't reach some of the notes. Oops). And games that you enjoy. Small things. I'd also add friendship and trying new recipes that work out well. I mean, sometimes they're the type of changes where you know it's going to work out well, but if you're not good at knowing what goes together it still ends up feeling really good. This week's twist was "Oh, let's add shredded cheese to this potato bread" and, listen, I think I might die for that combination it was that good and literally all I did was add some cheese.

I've got to find a way to work them into stories, so I can feel justified in adding a recipe extras section.

Anyway, as most of you know, Let's Read Academics ran into a bit of trouble in that I bit off way more than I could chew. I did not expect that it would be that much more intense. Because sometimes I am a silly. It's double the workload in a week, so of course it's doubly intense. Thankfully, it's only the let's read that I'm struggling to keep up with precisely because it's too much on top of the rest of September, so at least it should be easily remedied. I've asked for your input on your preferences, but for now I'm still leaning strongly towards cutting them into more managable chunks instead of trying to tackle a whole chapter per week. Let me know what you think, though!

Stand-out Positive Moment

My cooking success! First pumpkin soup of the season! Or the last depending on whether you think autumn starts September 1st or 21st, I suppose. I made the whole soup without checking a recipe and I added ghost pepper flakes to it and (miraculously) got the spicy heat I wanted exactly right. GO ME! And, because I'm me, that meant I had delicious sinus-clearing soup for half a week because I inevitably make way too much soup even without thinning it down.

Also cheesy potato bread. It's kind of like... If you like cheese toast but complain that there's always too little cheese on them and what there is isn't molten enough and the toast goes cold too quickly, then these are so worth trying.
