Week #8: "Thing With Feathers"
When I heard the prompt, "hope," I immediately thought of the Emily Dickinson poem, "Hope Is The Thing With Feathers." I think birds are always great hopeful symbols; see the cover of my solo album "One True Thing" for Exhibit A. The day I wrote this I had just read an article about how radiation from the Fukushima meltdown is reaching the US west coast now-ish, so that reference made it in there. Note to any scientists: I know that barium didn't also leak out with the cesium, but grant me the poetic license because it sounds better with more than one element.
