Truth be told, we procrastinated about launching this Patreon campaign for a couple of reasons. The first is that it is not uncommon for creators to experience some social media blowback any time they publicly accept contributions or support. Ultimately, we decided that haters are going to hate no matter what we say or do, so we might as well do what seems right for the Two Meander project. The second reason we postponed creating this account is that we wanted to be sure we could give back enough to our supporters. We will almost certainly be tweaking the reward tiers in the future as we find out what works best for our Patrons, but we do at least feel that we will be able to return some value to supporters.
The past month has been a whirlwind. After RTR, in late January, we drove from southwest Arizona to Gillette, Wyoming to welcome Robert's newest granddaughter into the world. We made the 1,200 mile trip in about 36 hours, sleeping overnight in a Wyoming rest area during subzero temperatures. We spent the entire second day driving on snow and ice, but were able to meet baby Paislee only eight hours after she was born. Our trip to Wyoming was much more comfortable and relaxed than we had expected thanks to the generous support of several viewers.
In the time since, we have spent two weeks in Wyoming, traveled back to southwest Arizona, and now are making our way east to Texas where we both are looking forward to seeing family. Meanwhile, we are holed up in the mountains enjoying some much-needed R&R before continuing our journey to Texas.
As we were traveling through southeast Arizona, we stayed for two nights at Kartchner Caverns State Park (See Episode 37 - https://youtu.be/aO4rh7ZY-5A). After leaving Kartchner Caverns, we passed through Sonoita, Tombstone, Bisbee, Douglas, and on towards New Mexico. As it happened, we inadvertently stopped in Tombstone in the middle of the 2018 Vigilante Days - a wonderful, town-wide celebration. Robert was asked to escort the lovely Penny in the period fashion show organized by the Tombstone Vigilettes. We had a blast in Tombstone and definitely plan to visit again. Look for our Tombstone video on February 23, and the Bisbee video on February 24.
We really do have the best viewers and readers, and we are so glad that you are here with us on this meander. The majority of our creations will always be free, whether that is YouTube videos, blog posts, Facebook posts, or Instagram posts. This is all possible thanks to the generous support of people like you. We will continue to provide extra content like this post for Patrons as an expression of our appreciation and gratitude.
