Hello lovely patrons (and followers)!
Wow, it's really been a while since I posted here, huh? As you may have noticed, this Patreon was on hiatus for most of 2019. That wasn't really the plan - I got stuck on an important aspect of my Orklands worldbuilding and thought I'd take a couple of months off to work it out, but then life got busy and the allocation of my writing time shifted to other projects and a couple of months turned into a year or so. I've been hitting that "skip next billing cycle" button every month with a feeling of "gosh, I really want to get back to this" and then no follow-through on that feeling. Then I missed the date for skipping the March billing cycle and took that as a sign from the universe that it's time I get back into it this month.
With the powers that be having made that particular decision for me, I still had to make some choices to make about how to run this Patreon going forward. I love Orklands, but I only have so much time for writing and right now I just can't put enough time into Orklands to post about it 3 times per month without deprioritizing other, more time-sensitive projects. I also don't want this Patreon to be active one month and on hiatus the next, back and forth like a pendulum depending on whether I can make time for Orklands that month. So I've decided, for now, to make this Patreon and its posting schedule project-agnostic. The idea of having all my Patreon activity tied to one single creative project was wonderful in theory, and I think I would like to go back to that model eventually, but it's just not feasible for me right now.
So here's the plan - I'm going to go back to my previous Orklands-based posting schedule. 3 posts a month, worldbuilding on the 7th, conlanging on the 17th and prose on the 27th (look, 7 is a great number, okay?). But instead of those posts all being about Orklands, or about any one project, they'll be about whatever I've been working on lately. A fun worldbuilding detail, a new cluster of lexical items, a snippet from a story I'm working on. Sometimes all 3 posts one month might be about the same story, sometimes they won't, sometimes they'll be finished things, sometimes works-in-progress, sometimes probably just project-related musings of some kind. Just... something. Something fun and interesting, I hope.
Since we're already a little ways into March, the 7-17-27 posting schedule will resume in April. This month, I'm going to make a post or two to tell you about what I've been working on while my Patreon was on hiatus. If you want to hear more about any of the projects I mention, don't be shy about letting me know - it'll make it easier for me to know what to post about in the future.
Thank you very much for your patience during the hiatus, it is incredibly appreciated. I'm thrilled to be back and look forward to returning shortly with a new post!
