The GCC project wants to move from the Subversion version control system to git. GCC is tremendously important; it's the most widely used compiler for the most widely used language in the open-source world, used to build many programs and services you use every day (for example, any time you order from Amazon you're relying on programs built with GCC). Moving to git will help them improve the compiler more rapidly.
I'm the world's expert on conversions of huge ancient messy repositories , so I've volunteered to help. But I ran into a problem - the GCC repo is so big that it exceeds the 32GB memory limit of the Great Beast, my purpose-built repository-surgery machine!
The first month's pledges through Patreon will just about cover the cost of the additional RAM I need to help out the GCC folks.
