Sustainability unlocked!
Since the content-specific milestones are triggered by # of people signing up for those specific tiers, these overall milestones are more general "State of the Soup" tiers. At $20 I pull even on printing and shipping costs, which means that this whole venture is sustainable! Yay! We should do some sort of internet celebration. Oh! If you send me selfies I'll draw an icon pic of you.
Interaction! Livestreams?
Okay, so if we hit $40/month (that's like, 8 Subway sandwiches!), I want more interaction with patrons! Maybe we'll do a monthly livestream? Maybe I'll put together a Patreon-only booklet or large print? Maybe I'll open a whole new tier system on the Patreon that has to do with my fascination with roleplaying games or my love of sewing purses? (okay that last idea is dumb)

Hi! I like mailing/giving people stuff! So sign up if you want stuff from me???
Things I'm currently doing:
- crying over Captain America and drawing more fanart than is good for me
- drawing a comic about early English/Native American interactions and feeling a massive case of imposter syndrome
- playing in a taiko group with my husband
- making a small comics anthology for funsies
... and making a noncommittal Patreon page, apparently.
I'd like to think of this as primarily a subscription service -- to postcard mailings, to digital content, etc. So I've made the tiers basically at-cost. And since Patreon's "Share Creation" system doesn't allow me to cherry-pick which tiers I share to, I will be adding you to private Google Groups instead. I think it'll be much easier for everyone involved. :)
There's 3 main things you can subscribe to here, and the tiers basically mix-and-match them:
POSTCARD:
- A 4"x6" print of artwork that I do, mailed to you in an envelope once a month. I reserve the right to post it on the internets, but you'll always get it first.
- If you just signed up, I'm liable to toss in a print of the previous month(s) if they are available.
- Also, you get a doodle from me the first time you sign up. (And then randomly thereafter)
--> the DOODLE option
- Basically I'll write you a note on one side of a 4x6" card, and then draw something on the other side. It will be done with black ball-point pen, so no take-backs, no coloring. Since I'll be doing one of these for you every month, feel free to message me with requests or themes. Like "draw two people kissing every time" or "I want mine with cats!" or "this time, can I have a weird tree."
- If I completely mess up, *or* if I feel particularly inspired, I reserve the right to re-do the doodle digitally and post it. I wouldn't ever post the original b/w doodle, although you can do with it what you want.
- Sorry, but these are pretty severely limited, but I can't do too many of these. :-/ Thus far it's 8 per month for the doodle-specific tiers, PLUS any new patrons, and one more random postcard recipient.
SAD INDIANS:
Behind-the-scenes stuff related to almost-historical comic about Squanto the Thanksgiving Indian. I'll add you to a top-secret Google Groups, where you'll get:
- I'll post the pages as soon as I'm done with them, which means batches of 3-6 pages every 2-4 weeks, and about a month in advance of the current comic posts.
--> If more than 5 people pick SAD INDIANS: I'll make a monthly behind-the-scenes post to the Google Groups. Examples might be analyzing my favorite page of the month, or showing some of the research resources, or showing how a specific panel came together. [UNLOCKED]
--> If more than 10 people pick SAD INDIANS: I'll make a patron-only Tisquantum print, and I'll mail every Sad Indian a free or discounted copy of my next printing of Tisquantum. (Depending on how long you've been a Sad Indian. This'll more than make up for the money you're putting in to this tier!)
Currently: 5 SAD INDIANS
PROCESS VOYEUR:
Behind-the-scenes stuff related to the comicking process and learningtocomic posts. I'll add you to a top-secret Google Groups, where you'll get:
- I'll post up all of the rough draft layout versions of my comics going forward -- both fan and original. (With a link to the final version so that you can compare)
--> If more than 5 people pick PROCESS VOYEUR: I'll make a monthly learningtocomics post where I actively try to become a better comicker.
--> If more than 10 people pick PROCESS VOYEUR: I dunno man. I'll think of something. Maybe post my layout drafts as soon as I do them? :O That's like getting to see how the sausage is made! Or maybe post actual process videos of me drawing?
Currently: 4 PROCESS VOYEURS
