Bradley Potts is the creator and
writer of  the Stalker Webcomic
Gateway Comics Presents is the home of the weekly webcomic, Stalker, featuring my characters and stories. For the last several years, I have been developing and publishing this world out of my own pocket, but now I am reaching out to my readers and fans for support to keep this comic going in the months and years to come. Please become a patron now to ensure that I can continue to bring you these adventures.

Comics combine writing with spectacular art and images to bring the reader a unique, multimedia experience. I have been and will continue to write, but without the skills of a talented artist to bring those stories to life, it isn't a comic.

With your patronage and support, I will continue to seek out and employ talented artists to bring new pages of action, adventure and drama to your computers and smart phones every week. I will take the comic on the road, presenting it at conventions and growing its readership and fan base, and I will grow out the Gateway Comics Universe.

Creating Stalker
It was a bitterly cold night in December of 1990, and I was camped out in the empty apartment of one of my friends because the heat was on the fritz in my own. Despite being 10 degrees outside, the interior of the borrowed apartment was stifling, with no thermostat of its own and subject to the whims of the guy upstairs, who apparently lived in a sauna. Working into the night, I crafted a new Champions character for the ongoing Champions game being played at the University of Albany Gaming club.

Unlike those that had come before her, she would have no powers. She would be a normal person who survived by skill in a world where heroes flew and villains wielded cars as weapons. That night, the earliest imaginings of Stalker took form. It would be over 20 years before I presented the script for Stalker: Donning the Mask to comic legend, Trevor Von Eeden. The character’s origin had been reworked and her history refined, but at its core, it was the same character that had taken form in that apartment all those years ago.

The Story
Donning the Mask follows the adventures of masked crime fighter, Stalker. The young woman behind the mask is Carrie Stane, but she is not the first woman to wear this costume. Many years ago, her mother was the original Stalker and partner to fellow crime fighter, Public Defender.

As Carrie, feeling betrayed by her mentor, remembers the events leading up to this day, we see her mother in action, and her murder. In this four chapter story arc, we follow Carrie as she grows into the role of Stalker, taking her mother’s place at Public Defender’s side and finally taking wing on her own.

Donning the Mask wrapped up after four issues.  Carrie had come through the crucible, now alone and wounded, but ready to enter a new chapter of her life.  These stories were collected into the first Stalker Graphic Novel thanks to the generous support of many contributors over at Kickstarter.

The Story Continues
Stalker was saved last spring by Marcos Gratão, who stepped up to illustrate issue 5 after a forced hiatus.  From San Paulo, Brazil, Marcos is a professional graphic artist who enjoys dabbling in comics and has produced several, including his own creation, Enemus.  He traded his artistic efforts in exchange for a home for Enemus on the Gateway Comics website.

After a great run on Stalker #5, Marcos has turned over the artistic reins to Brazilian artists Fabio Silva and Carlos Henry, who will be providing the art for Stalker, going forward as we bring you the second chapter of the Stalker story, Stalker: ARMORCorps.  In this eight issue story arc Carrie must contend with being on her own for the first time as she faces old villains and new threats.  Marcos' Enemus will continue to be updated at Gateway Comics Presents, and he promises to be back soon for some more Gateway Universe adventures.

With your help, the Stalker webcomic will continue to be published online weekly.  Stalker:ARMORCorps will also be published as Volume 2 in the series of Stalker Graphic Novels and made available free to all Patreon supporters who have donated $50 or more over the course of their patronage.
