So, what is Patreon?

It's like Kickstarter, except that while Kickstarter is designed to allow fans to pledge money to make sure a project they want happens (or happens better), Patreon is designed to allow fans to pay their favorite creators a monthly salary.

It's a tough business - and it's hard for creators to be paid what they deserve. The more money we get for being creative, the less time we have to spend doing uncreative things just to pay the bills. Patreon allows you to subscribe to a creator's content. You pay so much a month and the creator keeps making the content. Yes, most of us would do it anyway - in fact, some of my content is free to all comers. Some, you have to pay for.

Who are you?

My name is Jennifer R. Povey. I'm a published novelist (Check out Transpecial, through Musa Publishing) and prolific writer of short stories. I've had short fiction published in numerous anthologies and periodicals, including two stories in the top science fiction magazine Analog. I also have comics in production with QEW Entertainment, Emerald Star Comics and Vivifica Studios. Finally, I've written RPG supplements for Fat Goblin Games, Rebel Minis, Avalon Game Company, Dark Naga and Flaming Crab Games and edited for Imperfekt Gammes.

I live in northern Virginia with my husband.

Okay, so, why should you subscribe to me?

I run a personal blog with occasional reviews. My patrons will now get teasers about my forthcoming fiction work and some of my RPG work (some, because I am often required to not disclose things until they are announced). I'm willing to take suggestions on material people want to see.

Free copies of:

2. The Skeptic And Other Glimpses - 6 short short and flash stories anchored around one of the last stories purchased by Dr. Stanley Schmidt before his retirement as Analog's editor.

Both will be via Smashwords coupon, allowing you to get DRM-free copies in your format of choice with infinite redownloads as long as Smashwords continues to exist.

Free copies of any and all self-published stories, ebooks, or novels for as long as you remain an active subscriber. (If I can negotiate free copies of traditionally published materials I will, but I can't make any promises in this regard - it depends on the cost to me).
Goals
$2 of $100 per month
At $100 a month, I will provide a short story to all subscribers, at all levels, per month. These stories may be in any genre and will typically be between 1000 and 3000 words.
