My name is Zachary Hoskins, and for the last three years I have been blogging about the music of Prince, song by song, in chronological order. I knew when I started this project that it would be a huge--bordering on absurd--commitment. There have been no surprises there. But I also want to provide a more regular stream of content to the small, yet dedicated readership I've built than what I am able to put together in my free time. That's where you--presumably a part of that small, yet dedicated readership--will come in.

I'm launching a Patreon for dance / music / sex / romance, not because I want to get rich off of writing about Prince, or even because I want to make writing about Prince my full-time job; but because I want to be able to reasonably allocate the time an ambitious project like this demands. I want to be able to say no to other freelance opportunities, not only because I would prefer to be writing d / m / s / r (which, for the record, I almost always would), but also because it is a better financial decision. Time, unfortunately, is money; and in the past three years I have been unable to put as much work into d / m / s / r as I'd like because of a lack of both.

What does this mean for you?

A Patreon-supported d / m / s / r means that my much-discussed goal of a new post every week can finally be a concrete promise. As the Patreon grows, we may even be able to get up to two posts a week, in addition to other stretch goals, such as the return of a regular podcast. Patrons of d / m / s / r can also expect additional perks, from early access to posts and more regular progress updates to (at higher funding levels) the ability to help shape the direction of the blog. Asking for support for a labor of love is not something I take lightly, and I will make every effort to make the Patreon-supported d / m / s / r a better experience than it has been in its first three years.
