I grew up reading science fiction.  From the Lensman stories of Doc Smith, to Heinlein’s The Moon is a Harsh Mistress, and beyond, I know that shaped my worldview.  I honestly believe that the world needs the literature of the imagination and of the possible, and it’s nothing more than my nature to try to do something about that need.
On the strange journey my life has led me so far, one thing I have been told almost more often than any other is that I have a splendid speaking voice, and people enjoy listening to the sound of it, if not always to the things I actually say.  So, although I have been a silent reader from the very beginning, I thought, why not make a try at reading some of these stories aloud?  Looking at the wide variety of modern media, I ended up picking live streaming (Twitch) and Internet radio (aNONradio) as ways for those words to be heard.
Of course, it is in accordance with the best tradition and most approved precedent to tip the storyteller, and the uses I can find to put a little spending-money to are almost unlimited, so I had to find a way for my audience to support me on-line.  I’m grateful to Patreon for providing that platform.

Tips for the Storyteller
$1 or more per month 0 patrons
  • Show your appreciation, and encourage me to keep doing this!
  • Access to the patron feed, including a brief “highlights” clip each month, of whatever I found especially amusing or interesting while editing the live recording into radio-show format.
And Now, A Word From Our Sponsor
$3 or more per month 2 patrons
  • Supply me with a short list of words you particularly like — “lackadaisical”, say, or “clepsydra” — and get one read, along with your name, on the stream each month (as soon and as long as there are at least 10 patrons at this tier and above). I will pick a sponsor for each chapter, in rotation, up to the number of total patrons or chapters.
  • Access to high-quality edited audiobook files, including printable CD jewelcase inserts.
  • Plus lower-tier rewards.
What am I drinking‽
$10 or more per month 0 patrons
  • I like to drink specialty soft drinks while streaming.  I will pick a sponsor, in rotation, to thank for each bottle or can I open (as soon and as long as there are at least 5 patrons at this tier and above).
  • “I Support Live-Action Audiobooks” badge mailed to you after three months at this tier.
  • Plus lower-tier rewards.
Bibliovore!
$30 or more per month 0 patrons
  • Every six months you are at this tier, pick a book I have read on the program, and I will mail you an autographed paper copy.
  • Supply me with a brief dedication, and when I occasionally read extra items (not included in the stream) for the radio show, I will pick a sponsor from this tier in rotation for each one.
  • Plus lower-tier rewards
Goals
$5 of $38 per month
Pay MetaARPA, as above, plus my monthly dues at the Dallas Makerspace, which is my usual location for streaming (thanks to their excellent facilities and high-speed network connection).
