The video above is my keynote presentation at a permaculture convergence.  One of the many free presentations I have given over the years.  A few months after the event was over, the video was edited and posted to my youtube channel.  I have video for oodles of stuff I have not yet posted to youtube.  And I am taking new video all the time.   The trick is to find the time to work it out.  In the past, my patreon stuff has paid enough that I can hire some folks to help out and that gets these videos rolling!   The more folks feed my patreon, the more videos I am able to crank out!

This patreon page is for folks that are keen in accelerating my youtube video stuff.

I have 73,000 subscribers with 22 million views - Yippee!  My videos are mostly about homesteading and permaculture stuff.   I try to make shorter videos that introduce a topic that is not yet on youtube.  Or maybe something that is on youtube, but a different presentation or a different angle on that thing.  My philosophies tend to be a bit different from most homesteaders and most permies.   I am seeking a less-toxic path than most.   I am bonkers about:

  • hugelkultur
  • rocket mass heaters
  • polyculture
  • wildcrafting
  • way, way, way beyond organic
  • earthworks
  • berms
  • chop and drop
  • rocket ovens
  • paddock shift systems
  • round wood timber framing
  • solutions with less petroleum, plastic or paint
  • other people's "weeds" are my favorite plants
  • REALLY reducing energy use

And on top of all of that, I have powerful, twisted humor needs - which might be for just a few people.

Some people have asked me to change my patreon stuff to be a certain amount per month instead of a certain amount per video.   I can't do that.  I am wired in a weird way.  If it is set up per month and I get money but I didn't do anything, then I have an sickening feeling of oppressive, unfulfilled obligation.  Gack.  On the other hand, if I create a video and put it up and then there is a big "KA-CHING" sound - that super works for me.  Job well done!

On a related note:  when i first tried patreon, it was because about a dozen really cool people were pushing me to give it a shot.   I just didn't really think it was for me.  But I set up and tried it.   After a couple of years, I saw a report on patreon and was struck with a powerful sense of gratitude.   I sent everybody that had made all time contributions of $100 several gifts.

As I write this, it is August 26, 2018.   I went out and harvested some precious Sepp Holzer grain.   I took a little bit of video while harvesting.   This grain grows to 8.5 feet tall and is a crazy fast soil builder.   Plus an edible grain.  Excellent for chickens to self harvest through the winter.  I grew some on a giant, flat rock surface with a bit of powdery sawdust - pretty impossible for almost anything to grow and the stuff still grew to 4 feet tall.   I have just a little bit of this, but I got the idea in my head that I might put together a christmas gift for my top 100 patreon supporters.  Maybe several of the biggest seed heads to my top 12 supporters.  Lots of maybes in here so it isn't an obligation thing, but more of a gratitude thing.

The page you are reading right now is new.   This patreon page is just for my videos.   For a while I did patreon stuff for all my things, but now I am dividing that.  So this page is for videos and the old page is just for podcasts.  Here is the link to my podcasts patreon page:
