About Python Namibia Society

The Python Namibia Society is the organisation behind PyCon Namibia (running each year since 2015) and other Python programming events and activities in the country. These activities include workshops, groups and even conferences for young people.

The biggest challenge for young learners in Namibia, including in Namibian schools, is the lack of computers on which to learn and practise.

Even in schools, pupils rarely have enough computers in the classroom for their lessons  and some pupils will do their entire computer studies without having access to an actual computer.

We've been fundraising since 2017 to gather enough money to put together a modest computer laboratory for use in Windhoek Technical High School, that can also be used at events outside the school. We also need funds to keep the lab running, and to take it to events such as workshops around the country, or the Computer Day conferences for schools that we have run since 2017.

Windhoek Technical High School is where we want to start, but our plan is to use the experience and resources that we build over time to extend the project to other schools. It's a long-term aim that will need on-going support.

Your support will go directly towards ensuring that Namibian learners will have access to computers for their studies, helping surmount one of the biggest barriers to their basic education in computing and programming. Thanks for your support!
Goals
$139.96 of $250 per month
US$250 per month will allow us to start building - and to maintain - a minimal computer lab for use in a school, bringing a new lab to a different school each year.
