About Quinn Higgs
My name is Quinn Higgs and I am a writer. I'd love to say that I've won such-and-such award and been nominated for such-and-such literary prize, but I haven't. Not yet, anyway. I've been writing in the shadows for years, mostly focusing on fantasy short fiction; it's time that I reveal my writing to the world, for better or for worse. I guarded my writing from the eyes of others out of fear of rejection. I sound like a complete wuss, but for the most part, I'm not. My years of writing for an imaginary audience are actually the one part of my life in which I can be considered "shy." Anyway, with this Patreon page I'm attempting a complete turnaround.
I'm a wife to a super-supportive and amazing husband, and am cat mom to a fat blob named Pussatrix LeStrange. I'm an avid reader of speculative fiction and am a rabid consumer of sci-fi and fantasy graphic novels, tv and film. I also read and watch other stuff - don't get me wrong - I'm just an SFF geek and love to be immersed in fantastic worlds. I'm also a console gamer. I love love love Witcher 3, which is in my opinion, the best video game in the history of video games. I'm not going to bore you with any more droning on about stuff I love, but if you'd like to know more about me and what I'm like, I suggest that you check out my Twitter feed @quinnhiggs.
Patreon is the perfect forum for me to release my web novel and short fiction because garnering an audience here will keep me motivated to continue releasing my work to the world. Honestly, I could have decided to just publish my new novel and shorts through a blog, but here's the thing - I could use some financial assistance. You see, I cannot afford to pay for an editor for my writing. I cannot afford a lot, actually.
I work full time and write late into the night - I'd love to transition into writing full-time (and getting a decent amount of sleep) based on the support of awesome patrons like you, but I know that's not exactly realistic. What I do hope to achieve is an eventual transition to full-time writing supported by the publication of my second and third novels in my Midst Walker series. In the meantime, your support through my Patreon page will pay for the following things:
- Goal 1: $500 per month - I can buy a better microphone for my podcasts and a new laptop to replace the shitty one I write on and podcast from now.
- Goal 2: $1250 per month - I can hire a professional editor to edit my manuscripts for parts one through three of the Midst Walker series in addition to the stuff from Goal 1.
- Goal 3: $2500 per month - I can switch to working only part-time, enabling me to get more sleep and write better fiction.
What you'll get for being my patron at the Scribe $3 level is early access to new chapters and podcasts of my web novel, Path of the Fallen, as well as exclusive access to new short stories (many of them set in the Midst Walker series world). That's right, I'll be podcasting author-read chapters of Path of the Fallen and will release those episodes simultaneously with the release of the chapters on Patreon.
At the Apprentice $5 level, you'll receive voting rights for ideation of new stories in the Midst Walker series world as well as receive the Scribe level benefit of early access.
At the Arcanist $25 level, you'll receive a printed book of my collected short stories in the mail, once at the end of my Patreon in February - March 2019, plus Apprentice level benefits.
At the $50 level, you'll receive the Arcanist level benefits plus thanks in my podcast and in my ebooks for the Midst Walker series, once finalized and published.
If you choose to support me, I can promise you that I'll do my best to publish content 8+ times per month during the term of my Patreon. I plan on releasing new chapters via early access on Tuesdays and Thursdays every week, with at least two short stories released per month.
I only plan on running this Patreon through February 2019, as that's my target date for self-publishing the second ebook in the Midst Walker series, which will be for sale, unlike my first book in the series, which will be permanently free. I don't actually know that I'll be able to earn very much from self-publishing the Midst Walker series, but feel that to run my Patreon indefinitely without the same level of released content would be like overstaying my welcome.

I can buy a better microphone for my podcasts and a new laptop to replace the shitty one I write on and podcast from now. What you get is higher quality podcast audio and the satisfaction that my writing won't be interrupted by another crash from my laptop.
