Greetings and salutations!
I call myself Qumu, and I make electronic covers of videogame music, which I then upload to YouTube. I take music from my favourite video games, and arrange it in a way that sounds good to me. I mostly try to retain the integrity of the original tune, either by keeping the mood of the original, or keeping the composition of the original fairly intact.

I generally make covers of two different styles
  • Remixes  - Arrangements with elements from different electronic genres
  • Remakes - Reorchestrations and less electronically centered arrangements

What kind of covers are coming in the future?
Going forward, some of the tracks I cover will be decided based on a poll held here on Patreon, and in the future, there will always be at least one poll-cover in the works.
I tend to cover retro games I have some kind of connection to, either because I have played them growing up, or because I’ve enjoyed them in more recent times. This isn’t to say that I can’t cover music from modern games, or games I haven’t played. If there is enough demand for a particular tune I will definitely give it a shot no matter where it comes from. I will just need a little bit more time to get into the spirit of the song if don’t know it.

I have at least some kind of experience with games from pretty much every Nintendo console, and I have played a fair share of games on the original Playstation. I’ve also been exposed to some 80s and 90s DOS/PC games.

Why Patreon?
Patreon is a place where fans get a chance to support their favourite content creators and get something in return. I love making music, and I would be ecstatic if I could actually do it for a living one day. It usually takes tens of hours for me to finish a cover and upload it to, so a lot of time and hard work goes into making the tunes you can hear on YouTube and SoundCloud. The way I produce music is very software and hardware oriented, so being able to acquire new instruments and update my equipment is very important if I want to produce higher quality music, which you as a listener will benefit from. YouTube ad revenue can be pretty unpredictable, so I would benefit from some extra income to use on gear. In short, Patreon provides an excellent opportunity and motivation for me to increase the audiovisual quality of my work.

I want to express that the Patreon page will in no way, shape or form exclude people from the content that I create. Every finished mix will be uploaded to YouTube, and anyone will be able to enjoy my covers on both there and SoundCloud as usual. This page is for people who both can and want to give me some extra support, as well as get involved in my music making process.

Donations will go towards:
  • Increasing the sound quality of my mixes with both better and more audio equipment
  • Adding more software instruments and plug-ins to my repertoire, which will give me more flexibility and also increase the sound quality of the mixes
  • Speeding up music production and video work through better computer components
  • Image and video editing software in order to increase the visual quality of my uploads

About the frequency of new releases
I try to stick to a schedule where I release a new remix every other Thursday, which amounts to 2-3 remixes per month.

Patreon gives you the option to limit the amount of times you can be charged per month, so if you decide to pledge, please feel free to set this limit to a number that you're comfortable with.
