Hi there, cutie! I'm Rachael Smith, a comic creator based in the UK. I'm the creator of graphic novels such as House Party, The Rabbit, and Artificial Flowers, and the webcomics Ask Flimsy, and Bess. I also write and draw the monthly humour strips for the Doctor Who: Tenth Doctor comic series. More info about my work is on my website.
what is this?
This is my Patreon! Patreon is a great way to support artists like me to make more of what they love making, and for me that is COMICS. For a small payment every month you get lots of *exclusive* content in return. Exciting!
I already buy all your books and stuff...
First of all: THANK YOU VERY MUCH! Second of all: please don't feel obligated! Buying my books, following me on social media, saying nice things to me at conventions...it's ALL support which I am really grateful for, so if you'd rather do that then that is fine with me!
so if I support you what do I get in return?
That's a great question!
If you support me for $3 per month you get:
*Access to my Patreon-exclusive diary comics. New ones every Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
*You get to see the new 'Bess' page updates a week before anyone else. Updates every Thursday.
*Behind-the-scenes photos of what I'm working on at least twice a month.
*I'll always open pre-orders for new creator-owned books and merch on my Patreon first, so you get first dibs!
If you support me for $10 per month you get:
*EVERYTHING at the $3 tier
*A Patreon-exclusive, Rachael Smith-designed postcard delivered to you every month! Each one comes with a little message and mini colour commission on the back. You can even tell me what you'd like me to draw for you!
If you support me for $50 per month you get:
*EVERYTHING at the $3 and $10 tiers
*I'll post you an original, signed, A3 comic page every month. It could be a page from one of my books, a Doctor Who comic, or something new I'm working on. It'll be rad, though.
*If I've been sent any comp copies of comics I've been involved with that month I'll also throw a signed one of those in too.
FUN FACT: As soon as you agree to support me, ALL the Patreon-exclusive content that I've posted so far will be available for you to read through at your leisure! At the time of writing there's currently 159 posts at the $3 tier. That's a lot of comics to read!

So, the people supporting you right now, are they enjoying it?
My patrons are the BEST people and they wrote me some testimonials! Here they are:
Supporting Rachael through Patreon has been one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. It would be worth it just for the personalised postcards, but her diary comics are witty and honest — and the exclusive content that you receive as a supporter is not only stunning, it’s also given me an insight into the creative process of one of my favourite artists.
I support Rachael on Patreon because she is uniquely funny and talented and the world needs more artists like her. The Patreon allows you to see exclusive content and sneak-peaks at upcoming work! Let's keep the support going!
I really enjoy reading the diary comics (it's great to have a mini comic to read every couple of days and they always give me something to think about or smile about!) and the behind the scenes stuff. The best thing is getting a really cool postcard in the post each month. The postcard itself is always awesome and then you get the brilliant bonus of a sketch on the back too!
If you like comics, cats and content then you should become a patron of Rachael Smith. Rachael is one of the most generous creators on Patreon and is a super friendly and all round good human. My only regret is that I didn't up my pledge to $10 sooner because the monthly postcards with original art are excellent.
I support Rachael because she is a role-model. As a young artist myself, to see Rachael post about her work and journey, fills me with hope that the talent I am striving to improve will lead me to my own success. I want Rachael to continue doing great work :3
Rachael's diary comic is a work of simplistic elegance. She uses a simple 4 panel structure to tell funny, inspiring and emotional stories that have honestly become the highlight of any day when they arrive in my email. Its a diary comic in the truest sense, covering every aspect of life that feels both entertaining and intimate. Rachael is one of my favourite artists, and I can't wait to see what she creates next. And thanks to her Patreon page, I won't have to wait for long.
Every month I get something original and joyous coming through my letterbox in postcard form. The Patreon is worth it for this alone, but on top of that there are slice of life comics too. Worth every penny!
Rachael Smith's Patreon diary comic is one of my favourite webcomics and I always eagerly await the update notifications. It's a must for any fan of Wired Up Wrong!

This Patreon is far and above the one I care about more than any other I support, it's actually the reason I joined Patreon. The Diary Comics are so bold and genuinely touching, having shown them to several friends suffering from mental health issues it's no small thing to undress yourself like that to the world and yes it's not all doom and gloom they do frequently make me laugh and when my phone buzzes with one I get excited that a new one is coming. The postcards have been excellent too, they're a joy to find every month.
Thank you so much for reading! I hope this has convinced you to come join in the fun, or at least maybe think about it. I'd love to have you on board!
Please be well and happy in all that you do.
Love, Rachael xxx
