Welcome to Radicle Root Herbs and Makeable Munna's Patreon!!! I am so stoked that you have decided to check it out and consider supporting me thru this incredible platform that allows for amazing community support and connection in a unique new way! The life of an herbalist (and of a creative maker) is one of service to those who need and want our skills and knowledge. These have taken us years to develop and we are continuously learning to further enhance them. Besides that time commitment, the work we do takes much time and focus to be done correctly and ethically. Growing plants, wild crafting, processing plant material, making medicines, consulting with clients, providing information, educating and teaching... these things are often behind the scenes work, but are the essential parts of my life's work! In order to have time to do these things, that work needs to be valued. Not just by me, but by those who benefit from it and from those who want to see others benefit from it too!

My Dream for this Platform
Honestly, my biggest goal is to be able to follow my callings on the land and as an herbalist without being so heavily burdened by the capitalist pursuits of vending shows and markets, but to still expand this business that I care so much about! I'd love to spend more time on the land, with the plants, and with my clients and less time setting up and selling products to people who are only occasionally interested in them. Now, stay with me here... I know you may be thinking,"Well, why should I care? I have my own wants and needs to take care of!" and trust me, I get it! I am a single homesteader and mother and would love to have those roles be less impacted by my stress around business and finances because they are already so heavy on their own. The reason that supporting me in this platform ought to be something you WANT and CARE about is because this is a value for value exchange that I truly believe will make BOTH of our existences better!

Having this support from you to do the work I'm meant to be doing will in turn benefit you folks who follow and support me, because the more I am living my authentic life on the land, the more I can provide for you! I'm not just talking more physical products either, but also services, support, creativity, availability, and so much more! Without the need to be vending every week, I can put more time into workshops, foraging, planning classes, creating online content, concocting remedies, gardening, consulting, and so much more! This is the work that not only do I want to be doing, but that I feel the world truly needs me to be doing!!! Do we need another herbalist selling products just to try to make a minimum wage living? Or do we need more people living, authentically, and sharing their unique skills with the world??? The world that is crying out to be listened to and to be respected, which just happen to be two of the prime components of my practice!

A bit (or a lot) about me and my journey:
My name is Munna and I am an herbalist, maker, and homesteader living in rural NB (Wolastoqiyik territory)! I was born and raised in SW Ontario, Canada, (Haudenosaunee territory of Turtle Island). I grew up in rural agricultural towns that my family lived and farmed in upon their arrival in Canada as immigrants from Europe. My mother had left the rural farm life, for rural town life, but I knew from a young age that I was destined to live a simple life on the land and I enthusiastically dove into developing skills that would be useful to myself and my loved ones in such a pursuit! I was always a bit of an odd duck in my little towns... questioning things and learning things that were not of the sort to interest my neighbours. Always the budding anarchist without knowing what that even was!
I was born with an immune deficiency condition that impacted me as an infant and child thru severe allergic reactions to many things in my environment. I then also developed asthma, which has a strong allergic response trigger. These combined health issues meant that I spent quite a lot of time in and out of the hospital, fighting to breathe and be comfortable in my own skin. I felt scared and I disliked the issues with my health, but I quickly learned that worse that those things, was the hospital environment and the medications. I HATED the side effects of the inhalers and drugs a lot more than I disliked the actual conditions, but I didn't know any better to think there were other options. As I grew up, I became one of the earliest kids in my area to have a computer and internet at home, because I was hella privileged to have a dad who was a serious tech nerd. This was such a huge turning point in my existence. I became able to independently study SO much more than I could before. As a curious being, let me tell you... I DOVE IN! I don't remember the day, but I know that it was because of the movie The Craft. All my little friends and I were so into it that I ended up researching witchcraft, and therefore discovered Wicca. While that didn't end up being my particular cup of tea, it did lead me to the discovery of using plants for their different properties! OH MY GODS Y'ALL!!! The floodgates of inspiration and passion opened and I started learning everything I could about herbs! Back then the internet was new, so I still ended up getting lots of my early knowledge from books I took out from my local library, but I was so into all of it! PLANTS CAN HEAL YOU?!?!?!?! The plants that I love growing??? Plants are not just food and pretty flowers and oxygen makers?!?!?!
Yep... it was a pretty big deal for me! Anyways... lots of life happened between that moment and where I'm at now. After I finished high school and didn't think spending $10k+ to learn some philosophy, just for the sake of going to university was reasonable, I decided to try more experiential learning. I moved to Belize to WWOOF on organic farms and fell in love with that life, but ran out of money and came home after 4 months. I started farming internships in the organic circles in ON, and also enrolled in herbalism school. I suffered thru full body hives and all night wheezing and coughing attacks so that I could keep pursuing these ways of learning about working with nature to meet my needs.
I went to Herbalism school at Living Earth School of Herbalism for 4 years and completely knew it was everything I wanted to know and do and be! During that time, we got to be clients, as well as students and it was at that time that my whole physical existence changed... After a year of taking tincture formulations, I was completely off of asthma inhalers and my immune system was functioning better than it ever had! I am a skeptical person, so I could not believe the difference herbs could make if I hadn't experienced their incredible healing gifts for myself. Plus, since then I have reaffirmed their power thru successful treatments of many other clients too, for a wide range of ailments and conditions! Herbs are my best allies in life!
In my final year of school, I met a man who told me about a neighbourhood in NB that gives away free land if you will build a homestead on it... WHAT?! That was my dream come true, tho I'd never been to NB or considered living there before. I wanted to live in ON or Belize... but neither were financially feasible options for the life I wanted to create. So, I decided to check out this new and unknown opportunity!
I fell madly in love with the land here. The foothills of the Appalachian Mountains are stunning and the lifestyle in NB is so divine! I love the people and the pace and the earth here so much... so I stayed! I had a baby with that man who told me about the land... and we built a home to birth that baby in! I have been living here ever since. Baby Daddy and I are separated now, so I am building (almost done!!!) my own little Witch's Cabin in the neighbourhood now, for myself and my 5 year old son!
So here I am... and I would LOVE to be yer community herbalist! Check out all the neat ways you can be a patron! And always feel welcome to let me know if there are other ways you think I could be of service!!!

Haha, oh! and I also LOVE to crochet! I learned from my mother and grandmother and find it to be a most wonderful pastime during the long winter months. I can crochet just about anything, but I have a love of making halter tops and bikini tops right now! Slow fashion is making a come back and I love it!
