I’m Chris, an opera-singing-financial-planning-farmboy.

I’ve lived my whole life around people who have… ‘non-traditional’ financial lives. People who don’t feel like anyone at a normal bank understands them at all.

The trouble is… we all still have to deal with money, and when you add the complications of variable income, multiple money streams, business expenses and a complete lack of financial training… the results can be super stressful.

I started ‘From Rags to Reasonable as a blog in 2015 to help those kind of people… my kind of people. 2+ years later R2R has become a social enterprise focused on providing one-on-one financial help for creatives and others that feel like ‘money misfits’.

WHAT AM I DOING ON PATREON?
Connecting one-on-one financial help to people who need it is at the core of my business, but not all those people can afford to pay for it. That’s why 10% of every dollar spent on the site goes into a fund which helps those people get the help they need. (I call it the Tom's Shoes model of financial planning). This 10% allows those of us in the creative world who have the means to support members of our community that don’t.

But I wanted to open up the pool of support to everyone, not just my clients.

So I’ve turned to Patreon to build a group of patrons from all over the world who want to support financial stability in the creative community.

WHAT I USE YOUR MONEY FOR:
Right now there are two main programs supported by outside funds: office hours and pay-what-you-can financial planning.

Office Hours: have been in operation for almost a year now. Over that time I’ve been able to offer free financial coaching to more than 40 people all around the world. Lots of those people sign up repeatedly and a few I talk to almost every week.

Pay-what-you-can financial planning: is a brand new program launched in August 2017. It allows people in lower income brackets to apply for full service financial coaching/planning (according to their needs). They pay what they can afford, and the rest is subsidized through outside funds. It has already proved a fulfilling program both for me and the people I’ve started to work with. I can't wait to see where it will grow.

HOW THIS WHOLE PATREON THING WORKS:
If you’re interested in supporting my mission, you can pledge a monthly contribution.
All contributions are in USD and can be stopped anytime you’d like. 100% of money given goes to supporting the above projects.

All patrons will have access to my Patreon feed in which I’ll share stories of the people your money is helping, and new programs as I develop them.

There is so much need for financial help in the creative world. With your help I can do more than I could possibly afford to do alone.

Thank you so much for coming by the page, and if you have any questions don’t hesitate to email me at: [email protected]

It's not really a rewards tier... but a $1 contribution will get you access to the feed where I'll post updates and news.

If you'd like to give more I would be extremely grateful. Give whatever you're willing and can afford.

Thank you so much for your support and I can't wait to use it to keep helping the creative community.

Goals
$262 of $500 per month
Fully funds the office hours program - 12 hours a month.

That would be HUGE.
