We are Rainheart Symphony and our main goal is creating symphonic metal covers. We release the covers in sets of four songs that outline the same theme. Each month we are planning to release two new songs from a current set.
So, how do we make our videos?
First of all, we choose a theme and pick 4 songs that fit it. The themes may vary from years of release (80s, 90s) and musical styles to countries or even a single band!
After the songs are selected, I start creating symphonic arrangements. That means that I analyze original melody, chords, and arrangement and adapt everything for different orchestral instruments as if a real orchestra played it. So, there are usually from 10 to 20 instruments and each one has its own part.
When the orchestration is done, we start a long rehearsing process of new material. It usually takes several weeks to get to the point when every piece sounds perfect and everyone is cool with the arrangements.
Then we begin to film our videos and record instrumental and vocal parts. Sometimes we film and record for up to 16 hours straight, but that brings a lot of emotions. Usually we shoot on weekends and we LITERALLY live at the studio: we sleep there, eat there, and chill there (if we have time :) ). The studio has already become our second home.
When filming is over and records are done here comes the most difficult part - mixing and mastering of all tracks and editing of the videos. I do it all myself (at least for the time being) and on average I spend five or six 12-hour work days on making one song and video for it (and that’s if my computer won’t act up on me which is a whole different story). I’m a perfectionist and I probably could spend less time on everything, but I just can’t settle on something that I’m not totally satisfied with.
And we are those crazy people who do it all for free! And, of course, we also spend a lot of our own money to buy or rent equipment and a lot of energy to actually do it. Our dream is to make a living from our music, but it would be very nice to at least cover our expenses for now. And, even if we don’t, we still will keep on creating because it is our very life.
I hope, by now you are already thinking: “
But wait, friend, do you know how this thing works? I mean do you know what Patreon is? We are glad to tell you!
Patreon is a platform where we will upload our exclusive content for our subscribers. You can directly pledge any amount of money to back our project starting from one dollar per video. There are different levels of patronage with different rewards, so you can choose the one to your liking.
As I’ve mentioned before, we’re going to post two videos a month. So if you pledge $1 per video, it will add up to $2 a month, etc. All pledges are customizable. If you're concerned about going over your budget, you can set a monthly maximum for 1 video/month during the signup process.
The funds will be transferred at the 1st day of each month. You can change the pledge or cancel your subscription anytime you wish, no hard feelings! :)
And now you might say: “GOT IT! Can I give you my money now?” Wait, waaait, waaaaaait…
Don’t you wanna know what you’ll get?
We’re eager to offer something REALLY special to you! ;) Here are the rewards you can get for becoming our patron (each next item includes the previous positions):
$1 - early access to all our videos and patron-only feed (behind the scenes videos, sneak peek photos, Q&A's). And whatever crazy things we come up with!)
$3 - an opportunity to vote for our next themes and songs. Your opinion is really important to us! Note: we’ll need at least 15 people to participate to get a “clear reading” of the results.
$5 - MP3 download of every new cover right after its release. Here’s the thing, we create the covers in sets, and it would only be logical to release them the same way, right? So we’ll get them to iTunes, Google play, and other services as EPs, but only after the fourth song is out. But here you can get the download on the day of each song release (or the next day at the latest)!
$10 - orchestral version of every new cover right after its release and your name in the credits at the end of our videos. If you’re really into that symphonic sound, it’s your chance to get a version with only vocals and orchestra. And it’s not available anywhere else!
$15 - you offer a song (that fits the next announced theme) and we'll include it in the poll. The same deal as with opportunity to vote, but here we’ll need 15 more people besides you and other patrons who chose this option.
Also I would like to say thanks to you all for taking your time to read it, and to every patron who has already joined us, and to everyone who is considering becoming our patron! You all inspire us to make more music and do it as best as we can! And it doesn’t really matter how much you’re ready to spend on supporting our project, it is your appreciation and feedback that we really care about! Even if you can't support us financially now, you still can share our videos on social media and it helps us a lot. :)
Thank you so much!
Greetings and thanks from the band!
