Hey! Thanks for helping out.  If I see you, I'll give you a hug, unless of course that makes you uncomfortable. Then maybe, what, a fist bump?  You'll also get access to my creator's feed.  You'll actually have a voice!  And because you put your money where your mouth is, I'm a bit more likely to take your opinion to heart. Now don't go trying to hurt my feelings, just because you can now.

Want some of the photos from the stories as your desktop wallpaper?  Alrighty then. Images from stories will be made available in several resolutions that best fit your screen!

Hey, you want to go old school?  How about an 8x10 or 8x12 signed print?  Pick your image from a story, or there may even be some really cool photos that are from one of the story locations that didn't make it in due to layout limitations.  You'll have access to those, too!  Please be a patron for at least six consecutive months in order receive this.

About Mark Calcagni

Hi I’m Mark, and I write adventure and wilderness stories.
Hi, I’m Mark, and I’m a landscape, wildlife, and nature photographer.
Hi I’m Mark, and I’m a graphic designer and illustrator.

Actually, I’m Mark Calcagni, and I do all those things and I put them together in an online magazine called Rapt Journal. Rapt Journal is dedicated to the idea of place, the interaction between people and the natural world, with maybe just a bit of science thrown in for spice. Not place in the sense of locations to be checked off some top ten list, or as places to show off the coolest gear, but rather as places in which one can sit still and be inspired.

In order to to do this I’m going to need help. That’s where you, my patrons, come into the game. Don’t worry. I’m not going to stick all those pretty pictures and awesome stories behind a paywall. The idea is for Rapt Journal to be, and remain, free to view. I’d also like to keep advertisements off the site. When was the last time you nestled in with a good short story and suddenly had someone show up in your living room, flashing lights in your face, and asking you to buy things?

By supporting me on Patreon, you can guarantee that Rapt Journal remains ad free. You may ask, ”But Mark, why should I support you if I can get the cool stories and pretty pictures for free?” Well, the obvious answer is that if you don’t, Rapt Journal will cease to be or advertisements will start cluttering up the site.

That’s the stick, now here’s the carrot. Cool stuff. In addition to the warm fuzzies you get from being a patron of the arts, you’ll also have access to my Patreon feed where you can tell me exactly how much you love my stuff, or perhaps give me ideas on how to make my stuff better.

You’ll also have access to exclusive content, such as photo and illustration wallpapers for your computer (or your phone or whatever crazy device you whippersnappers are using today, nagdabbit), work-in-progress sketches, videos shot from various story locations, early access to stories before anyone else, prints, and more.

You can choose exactly how much you give each month, and if you're worried about overspending, you can cap the total amount given!

My goal is to write, take photographs, design, and illustrate four short stories every two months to start. Considering I've got to go on trips to get content for the stories, that's actually a pretty quick turnaround.

Thanks for reading and I hope to see you somewhere in the woods. Not in a scary way, you know what I mean…

My boots and tents, jackets and sleeping bags as well. But because I do all the content creation, it also takes quite a few tools, software, and hardware to create a story.  This goal will go a long way towards maintaining software subscriptions, keeping hardware running, and my camera and lenses in good working order. Oh yeah, and it might put a little dent in my bills.
