Access to exclusive track releases each month from the RRkives that are unavailable anywhere else, along with updates and previews of the new album, The Strainge Case Of Steve.
Includes the RRkive exclusives and new album updates, along with downloads of any new releases forthcoming before they become available to the public. Releases currently planned in the coming months include new mixes of 1984's Ridin' On A Bummer, and 1995's Purple Entrapment.
In return for your support, we are opening up the vast vaults of unreleased and unheard music composed and recorded to tape by the Reporters, from 1974 to 2008. The 'RRkives' contain a ludicrous amount of high quality unreleased Reporters material, recorded in every era. Some of this has seen the light of day previously as bonus tracks on CD releases, and the compilation 'Nice Not To Be Here' available via Bandcamp, but there is so much more to hear, and Patreon seems like an ideal place to share this with our fans. We will be releasing new exclusives from the archives every month, and have pre-loaded the page with a few to start.
We will also be providing updates and previews of the work on the new album as it progresses, and we're excited to be able to have a forum to do this directly with our biggest fans! We are so excited about the new music and hope you will enjoy it too.
As an experimental and avant-garde / progressive rock based project (ie. niche), and having always been a studio-based group (and now split across continents), there is no opportunity for live performance or touring for income for the project. Steve Kretzmer is now fully focused on creating the highest quality Rascal Reporters project possible - but being beyond working age, any support from fans financially goes a long way in helping sustain day to day life and providing supports to allow for the relative frivolity of the creation and composition of this music on an independent scale. All funds from this Patreon will be going directly to Steve!
Originally formed in Detroit in 1974 by lifelong friends and collaborators Steve Kretzmer & Steve Gore, Rascal Reporters released boundary pushing outsider music independently and uncompromisingly until it came to a halt in 2009 due the tragic loss of Steve Gore. With Steve Kretzmer having taken a step back from music in the 2000s, and Gore no longer with us, it seemed as though Reporters may have come to an end.
However in 2017, inspired by contact from devout fans, Steve Kretzmer returned to the world of composition and recording, sparking the beginning new Rascal Reporters album - The Strainge Case Of Steve.
Steve is now joined by James Strain, an Irish multi-instrumentalist and producer, who was invited to join as the new other-half of Rascal Reporters, and since have been working together on new songs, completing unfinished older material (Redux, Vol. 1) and reissuing, remixing and remastering the existing discography.
