For your generous donation, you are going to gain you access to the users only, Patreon feed, where I'll be sharing the best of what comes across my desk at Lummox headquarters each month. This might be a poem that moved me, or an essay that I think is really important, or a really cool piece of art. How many and how often really depends on what comes through my inbox, so send me your best stuff, and tell your friends! The more we have, the more we can share! Plus, I'm going to send you a PDF copy of each of the Lummox Press Patreon picks. This way you can pin them on your wall, or put them in your holiday cards, or whatever you want to do with 'em!

I've been writing for most of my life, but it's only in the last 23 years that I've gotten serious about it. Also about 20 years ago, I started the Lummox Press to self-publish chapbooks. This soon led to a series I called the Little Red Books. Soon I was publishing other poets. The Little Red Book series lasted for 61 titles. In 2008 I started publishing Print On Demand books (or POD). This became the Respect Series. So far, I have published 63 titles. Most of this publishing was done as a hobby which paid for itself and in turn gave me a small profit after I paid the poets their royalties. During this time I was working my handyman gig...but now, due to health issues, I can't do that kind of work anymore, so my hobby has become a full time job (for part time pay) and that's where you come in. With your help I can continue to grow the Lummox Press. This will make it possible for the Lummox to meet the growing demands for quality poetry books for both first timers and  experienced poets.

If you don't believe me, check out a few of the comments I've received from poets I have published:

A simply beautiful book--thank you so much. – Lyn Lifshin

Keep up the good work. – Dan Fante
I have been following you for a long time and I think you do a splendid job. – L. Westbrooks
Congratulations on this wonderful publication. – Diane Klammer

Currently, my big project is a series of large format books entitled the Lummox Poetry Anthology. There have been 4 published so far, with each one containing the poetry of at least 170 poets. This monster takes about 5 months to put together and it's the biggest yearly undertaking that I do.

The other project is the Lummox Poetry contest which helps finance the Anthology and puts food on the table for a few months. The winner gets a chapbook (40 copies), a feature in the Anthology and a small cash prize. I'd like to make it a bigger cash prize, but I'd also like to pay my rent on time...So you can see there are lots of projects and more in the future, here at Lummox.

I could really use your help, can I count on you?

So, I'm a pretty simple guy at heart. I don't need a whole lot to keep grinding new voices through the ol' Lummox gears (well, I do insist upon having my scrabble cracker soup. I mean, you've seen this stuff right? http://bit.ly/1O6DhvW How could you blame me?), but the whole thing about asking for your help here at Patreon, is to make The Lummox bigger and better, so I can bring you more poetry and poets and artists from around the US of A and the world.

Check it out:

I want the Lummox Press to give poets a chance to be read by a larger audience, a global audience.

I've set my first goal at $500 monthly, to cover part of the Lummox expenses and pay for a few unexpected expenses, like I need more ISBNs for the books (not cheap). Things like that.

After we get this project done, we'll see where The Lummox is at. At some point I'd like to boost the Lummox up to make it more competitive with other outfits...Together, we can fight this battle to keep the hot blood of poetry flowing out into this sad and jaded world of ours.

Thanks, guys. We're going to do this together!
