The name is Jake Goldberg, but most of you probably know me as Youtube's RedPandaGamer, where I post quick looks, let's play, and reviews on some of the biggest and smallest games out there!
My favorite games to cover are those that fall under the indie banner, but often times these games don't get the attention they deserve. So last year I decided to produce a web series called Indie City TV, where I would go out and meet people throughout the city of Chicago who make indie games! I started to realize a show like this would be expensive to create so I ran a kickstarter where I raised over $4,000! And while that seems like a lot after buying the gear I needed to produce the show (camera, microphones, lights, etc) I didn't have much money left. In fact I spent more than I had using up any savings I had for myself. In digging myself a financial I was also struggling with Youtube's content ID system that resulted in my losing a lot of my main income and having to get a job at Gamestop. On top of that I am still attending college here in Chicago for a Bachelor of Arts in TV Post Production. So any free time is not enough time to work on IndieCity.
Many Backers have tried to get ahold of me to find out what is going on, rightfully so... I began to look for a studio space in the city, (since my current studio is in my walk in closet in my small apartment and hour East of the city). And managed to find several spaces that cost around $100 a month to rent. As of now I don't have the extra money to rent out one of these places, but hopefully with the help of you wonderful people through Patreon, I can start filming a a show I have been wanting to make for years now. Making a Web series is expensive... I know that now, and realize that a goal as shallow as $3500 was not nearly enough. But I have all the gear now, and am moving forward to finally create Indie City TV. Thanks to the original backers for their patience. THE SHOW WILL GO ON!
I started to work on this page a few weeks ago, but was hesitant to launch it. However, something happened that is almost requiring me to ask for your help. I got fired from my shitty job at GameStop. I have been there about a year and a half and because of disagreements between myself and upper management they saw it fit to terminate me. This is pretty awful timing considering the fact that I am trying to focus on graduating college in a month. So I figured that instead of trying to find another shitty job I would attempt doing youtube fulltime. I have some money saved so I can last awhile without a steady paycheck, but if I want to do this, I need to do it right. This Patreon will allow me to do three things;
IndieCity TV
Heavily Edited and Scripted Reviews and Top 10s
A consistent three day weekly stream on Twitch.tv
These are things I have been wanting to do more of, but since I spent any days that I wasn't at school working at Gamestop I didn't have the time.
