What does Refold do?

We are creating the first, end-to-end framework to achieve language fluency through immersion.

To start, we are creating detailed guides to show you exactly how to learn a language from absolute zero to native-like fluency.

Simultaneously, we are investing our time, energy, and money into building tools to support, simplify, and improve the Refold method.

The immersion learning community is filled with talented, enthusiastic, and passionate supporters that want to advance the ideas behind immersion learning. We see it as our role to connect these learners and harness their excitement for the benefit of the entire community.

Where does your money go?

We’re creating these guides for free because we believe that everyone who wants to learn a language should be able to learn a language, regardless of how much money they have.

Your support as a Patron helps us extend language learning education to those who otherwise couldn’t afford it.

The money you donate allows Matt and Ethan to work full time on refining the method and invest in projects that improve the ease and accessibility of immersion learning.

Eventually, we will create some paid premium products, but the core method and guides will always be free.

Product Roadmap: What’s next?

The first version of the complete guide is still in progress. We’ve finished Stages 0-2 and are hard at work on stages 3 & 4. We are targeting early 2021 to complete v1.

Simultaneously, we are creating the most supportive immersion learning community on the web. Each language has its own server and its own resources for learners. With community support, we know that anyone can learn a language.

In 2021, our focus will turn towards creating free language-specific guides and tools. The first batch will be Spanish, Japanese, and Korean.
Beyond that is just a guess, but here is our wishlist:

• Create more language-specific guides: Chinese, German, French etc.
• Refold quickstart guide
• Refold Method video guide
• v2 of the main Refold guide
• v2 of the language-specific guides with tools and lessons optimized for immersion learning.
• Translate the site into multiple languages
• Create language-specific guides for English learners from various native languages.

Who are you guys?

Refold was founded by Matt and Ethan.



Matt achieved near native-level fluency by following the AJATT method for 5 years. Ever since, he’s been teaching others how to follow in his footsteps while avoiding the traps that got in the way.



Ethan is a veteran of the startup community that quit his job to move to South America and learn Spanish. After months of struggling to learn with traditional methods, he got fed up. There had to be a better way. He found Matt’s immersion learning community in 2019 and has never looked back.
