WHAT IS "FAITH ON THE EDGE"?   Our motto is "Pushing the Boundaries of Faith"
If you are a Progressive Christian pastor or congregational leader looking for ways to move your congregation deeper into this cutting-edge and life-giving theology; or, if you are wanting to learn more for your own benefit, THIS IS FOR YOU!

WHO AM I
First and foremost, I am committed to the Good News of Progressive Christianity—and its implementation in our congregations. As one who made his way from Fundamentalism into Progressive Christianity, I know the lay of the land. To "start where people are" requires walking in their shoes, and I have the fallen arches to prove it! So knowing where to begin is the first step in helping people transition. Our activities on Patreon are guides in how to gently move people from where they are into the refreshing spirit of Progressive Christianity.

As a pastor (DOC and UCC) with over 30 years in parish ministry, I have developed effective courses, strategies, and various tools that work in congregations. I am eager to share them with you AND assist you in implementing them.

MY ASSUMPTIONS ABOUT YOU
If you are a pastor:
  • You are not looking to make clones of yourself, but you earnestly desire for people to think criticially and go beyond easily accepted and often inherited ideas about God and the Bible.
  • You are creative and could produce many of the sources we do here, but your time is better devoted to other things. You are not interested in reinventing the wheel.
  • You wish you could just dive into a sermon text without having to spend time catching people up to the bare essentials needed to follow the sermon. We get that.
  •  You would like to recruit adult Bible study teachers, but few are capable of negotiating the text beyond a surface understanding. They need orientation and tools.
If you are a lay leader:
  • You wish you knew the Bible better, not so much in the details (who was Moses wife?), but in the deeper meaning.
  • You've heard of Progressive  Christianity and it makes sense to you, but you'd like to have a more systematic approach to understanding it.
  • Perhaps you would like to teach a Bible class but feel not quite prepared.
  • Most of all, you desire to grow deeper into the life of God, but the answers you've been given are no longer working.

WHAT YOU RECEIVE AS A PATRON
Every patron has access to our blogposts and vlogs, our biblical and theological courses, Lectionary commentaries, and Facebook community. About once a month we will offer a webinar for a small additional fee.

What we are asking of our patrons is a modest level of support each month, and we believe we offer much more than the monetary equivalent. Why not test us out for a few months, and see if you agree?

So, how about us giving us a try? It's only $4.00 a month
You may stay a Patron as long as you find us helpful, on a month-to-month basis, and can leave at any time.

Tiers
Progressive Leader
$4 or more per month

Part Three: Mark—the way of a disciple

Part Four: Matthew—What’s a Jewish follower of Jesus

to do?

COMING SOON:

Part Five: Luke—Negotiating the Roman Empire (with the help of Acts)

Part Six: John—The incarnation of the Wisdom of God

Part Seven: So, what Jesus emerges?

A new bi-weekly series of videos on "Doorways into Progressive Theology" (More assistance in introducing Progressive theology to your congregation)—

Part 1—How understanding Adam and Eve as

story/myth reveals much more than taking it literally

ever will.

Part 2—How the three–tiered universe of the biblical worldview leads to misconceptions about God and our world.

Part 3—How apocalyptic thinking distorted the early gospel and continues to do so even in our day.

Part 4—How each of the four Gospels presents a very different view of who Jesus is, and what this means today.

Part 5—Biblical prophecy as hope, not expectations for the future.

PASTORS RECEIVE WEEKLY COMMENTARY on the Revised Common Lectionary and Narrative Lectionary texts for the coming Sunday.

FREE BOOK All new patrons will receive a coupon code which will allow them to download an electronic copy of "I'm Right and You're Wrong! Goals
7 of 100 patrons
This ministry isn't about money—it's about the mission of Faith on the Edge: "We strive to bring to fruition Progressive Christian people, pastors and congregations, one by one, until we become the standard of the faith." This is nothing any of us can do alone, but together anything is possible. (Our goal  motivates us every day and energizes our lives.) Getting to 100 means we have a viable core to build upon.
