In summer of 2015, I wanted to create something that would inspire and help me connect with a group of friends. I played around with several ideas, but ultimately decided on mandalas. I wanted my gift to be something they could keep anywhere - home, work, garden, etc. Stones were the perfect canvas!

The mandalas I made were so warmly received by my friends, that I decided to just keep painting! Friends and family encouraged me to sell them, and I have done some of that. When I told a friend that I'm happiest giving them away, she introduced me to the Art Abandonment movement. I was hooked!

Art Abandoment is a movement full of artists who leave their creations in public places for random strangers to find. For me, it's a way of giving love to the world through my art.

This was never clearer to me than after the Pulse nightclub shooting in Orlando. Prior to that, I created some rainbow heart rocks that I planned to sell or give away during Pride month. After the news from Orlando came out, friends started asking to buy them. I no longer wanted to sell them. I wanted to give them as gifts. I offered to send them to the first 25 people who asked. I quickly exceeded my budget for postage, but with the help of some very generous friends, I was able to send my rainbow heart stones out to everyone who asked. I quit counting after the first 50, but I think I sent out close to 120.

Hoping to inspire my fellow abandoners, I shared my idea with them. I created and posted a photo tutorial, showing how I made my rainbow heart rocks. (This tutorial is available for free on my facebook page!) My dream was to flood the world with love. Within 24 hours, it had been shared over 100 times and viewed over 30,000 times. It was then that I knew that my purpose truly is to share love with the world through my art.

I can (and do!) sell my art. But what really want to do is give it freely, through abandonment or other avenues. Your support can help me expand my efforts. Thank you!

I spend about $20 a month on supplies. It would be great to have this expense taken care of!
