The video above provides an overview of The How of Teaching and Learning.

As an educator, collaborator with education and non-profit organizations, and a life long learner, I have found often in education there is an emphasis on content significantly more than The How of Teaching and Learning.
  • The How that is the art of learning and teaching.
  • The How is the skill of being able to masterfully transfer the tools of thinking — Critical Thinking Tools — for learning and understanding content in ALL content areas for ALL ages.
  • The How creates high levels of community collaboration.
The How is the core, and grounding, of what supports and develops authentic  student engagement. It is what keeps us interested in classrooms, professional development and presentations. This includes both the students and educators. Several key foundations guide me as a learner:
  • The brain seeks patterns.
  • Models of excellence, exemplars, provide a view of the possible.
  • Practice the tools for understanding, proficiency, and mastery.
  • Student (and educator) engagement.
  • Humility with the mastery of the The How is paramount for student engagement and the success of, for and with ALL students, which begins with the teachers, the school staff and the school leadership.
These are my guiding principals for this Patreon site with The How of Teaching and Learning. Each posting has a very short video clip modeling and demonstrating a specific How using critical thinking tools including realtime examples. Short print outlines will accompany the video as well. Your input and feedback is valuable to all teachers. Each teacher is a mentor to one another AND to all their students. Helping one another within your school building is important. We must share out ‘gifts’ with Our How to grow together.

Currently you can use The How of Teaching and Learning
with Critical Thinking Tools website for free!
So Why Support with $1 per month to Use this Site?

I believe this website can elevate your teaching and learning to new levels of professional skills for student engagement and success. If you try out this site and it helps you professionally, please consider supporting this site for $1 per month (that is like having personal professional development for three cents per day). The $1 per month will support my growth of this site with guiding educators to a much healthier experience in the classroom for themselves, and ultimately benefiting all students. As the United Nations states Education is a Human Right and my goal is to honor this vision here on the Patreon site. Critical thinking tools should be a high level skill for ALL children and youth everywhere.

The second tier is if you feel inclined to support this site a bit more. I am grateful and humbled.

The third tier supports access for a whole school in Ethiopia. I have traveled to Ethiopia many times collaborating with my Ethiopian colleagues Atsede and Dagim on Critical Thinking Tools (Thinking Schools Ethiopia and Thinking Design) with large school projects, healthcare and female textile workers. They are all about critical thinking tools and skills. Your support will also be supporting my colleagues of many years in Ethiopia creating posts in Amharic and Tigrinya languages. Please see my website www.eggplant.org for further information including the website devoted to the Ethiopian collaborations with schools, healthcare (Thinking Design) and female textile workers.
