Since 2006, RPG Site has been aiming to be the number one resource for fans of role-playing video games online. We like to think we've done an okay job of that - and now we're trying this Patreon thing.

You might know us through our website, which has all the traditional RPG coverage you could want - news, reviews, previews, interviews and opinion pieces. You might also know us through Twitter or Facebook, where we host trivia, anniversaries and give-aways on top of our news and feature work. You may hang out in our thriving Discord community, have listened to our Tetracast podcast or used our in-depth game guides, too. If you've done any of this, thanks for the support! If you never have and have just discovered us, welcome!

We love RPGs in all forms, and want to create content uniquely from the perspective of and for truly hardcore fans of the genre. That runs the gamut of this broad genre: from classic Japanese RPG fare like Final Fantasy, Shin Megami Tensi and Dragon Quest to Western epics like Mass Effect, Elder Scrolls or Baldur's Gate and everything in between. We bend the rules sometimes, too - we know a lot of RPG fans love adventure games like Zelda, or visual novels, so we cover them anyway.

So, why Patreon? The simple answer is to allow us to do more stuff. We love what we do, but being entirely funded through advertising as featured on the RPG Site website while sticking to our strict niche is challenging, especially when we put a lot of effort into content not on the website as well.

We want to continue to focus on quality content, avoiding the trap of clickbait for advertising clicks while staying in our lane and sticking to our niche. We're extremely proud to have a talented regular group of contributors whose work can also be found in places like Eurogamer, Polygon, Rock Paper Shotgun, BBC, PC Gamer, VG247, Official Xbox & PlayStation Magazines and more - but we need to compensate this work accordingly. We think Patreon can help with that, while also providing benefits and exclusive stuff to you, our most dedicated readers and followers.

All funding from Patreon will be pumped back into the site. It'll be used to pay our writers for more great articles, contribute to our overhead costs and help us to attend more shows and events to preview and talk to the creators of upcoming games.

RPG Site is also preparing to launch an all-new version of the site, which is an expensive and challenging proposition. Patreon funds will help this process - and when the new site launches, it will have an advertising-free variant for patrons.

RPG Site has been a labor of love for over a decade now for its creators and writers, and we have no plans of stopping. We hope Patreon can be a major part of our plans for an expansion that'd make an over-ambitious RPG villain proud. We're thankful for all your support - be that simply continuing to read us or by backing. Thanks for reading!
