Fictionally Asked Questions:
A dog whispered the name of this Patreon into my ear in a dream. Who are you?
I'm Adam "Rutskarn" DeCamp. I wrote a novel years ago. I wrote the game Unrest, which a lot of cool people liked. I've been doing let's plays of various sorts for years. And in the interest of full disclosure, I paid that dog off and it wasn't a dream.
What kind of a story and setting is Adventurers? What should I expect?
Adventurers is all about boiling the idea of the wandering, quest-sucking, violent looter back down to its historical roots--mercenaries, explorers, prospectors, knights errant, highwaymen, tomb robbers. It's a study of the sort of people who'd get into the job and what they'd want from it.
The setting is low fantasy, but certainly has magic and monsters and even curses. It just looks at them from a kind of National Geographic perspective. The world of Adventurers takes itself seriously, but the first-person narrators sometimes doesn't, and the story has strong elements of dark comedy.
How often does Adventurers update? How long will it run?
Standalone novellas come out once every month or couple of months.
How often does everything else update?
There's currently at least one and a maximum of three content updates a week.
Alright, this sounds good. Take my bux!
