Do you want to get comics into classrooms? Do you like taking a deep dive into what a great comic is doing?
I bet you love comics.
I love comics.
I love reading comics, sharing comics, and definitely teaching comics.
I even love writing comics. I've published comic stories internationally - ETERNAL with Eric Zawadzki and BEAUTIFUL CANVAS with Sami Kivela at Black Mask Studios, NEGATIVE SPACE with Owen Gieni at Dark Horse Comics, a variety of others minis and shorts at Vertigo, IDW, ComixTribe, and I've run 7 wildly successful Kickstarter campaigns, and I've attended comic conventions across the globe. I won an Aurealis Award and a Ledger Award, and I've got a few new projects to be announced in the coming months.
I am also a teacher. I've spent a decade and a half engaging kids, and inspiring their love of learning, all while spending time in classrooms, acting Assistant Principal roles, and I've twice been nominated for the ACT Primary Teacher of the Year award. I want to create study guides for teaching comics for every teacher who knows comics are just as worthy of thought and study as poems, plays, novels, and film. I want to do this for those who read comics and want to read smarter, think deeper, and even *gasp* have a little fun.

WHAT AM I MAKING - AND WHAT ARE YOU GETTING?
The plan is to use this page to share one major thing: COMIC BOOK STUDY GUIDE PDFs.

These guides offer a platform to teach comic books through discussion, essay questions, and creative applications of reading, writing, and digital literacy. If you plan to teach a comic I create a guide for, you could plan a 5 week unit based on what I outlay, or you could set up some very excellent student driven passion projects using the Google Suite for Education as a hub and an enrichment tool.

Need convincing? A little taste for free? DOWNLOAD A PREVIEW OF THE STUDY GUIDE FOR ETERNAL RIGHT HERE.

Pledge at the Comic Book Study Hall level and every fortnight, I'll create a comic study guide pdf for a specific comic that you can take into the classroom to engage discussion and rich academic tasks. It draws upon the Williams Matrix for Extension Learning and engages higher order thinking, creative solutions, and F U N.

WHAT ELSE CAN WE ADD?
Pledge at the Audio Study Tour level and I'll also be recording a monthly podcast where I discuss one of the study guides and provide audio content you can use in the classroom - or just for fun during your commute or laundry day. You get early access to this episode before it goes up on my podcast, The Crystal Plumage, later on.

This level and above also get access to Behind the Scenes Process Posts, where I'll post process thoughts/analysis about various comics, pages, covers, etc, and these could be used as mini-lessons/discussions in classrooms and pubs around the world.

Pledge at the Campus Library Associate level
and access my Script PDF Library. I'm a comic writer with a lot of scripts and pitches and thoughts at my disposal so I'm keen to share what I've got, but each script is added when another $10 is pledged, so if we only add up to $10 a month, there's only one script, but if we get to $100, then I'll unlock 10 scripts, etc.

Pledge at the Honorary Doctorate level, for those feeling incredibly inspired and passionate, where I'm offering One Page Script Commissions - where I will type a one-page script, print it, scribble on it and make a note, fold it thrice, and mail it out to you. It's like an artist commission, but with words [yes, I hear the words as I type them].

So thank you for landing here. Anyone looking to support anyone creative is a legend, especially when that creativity is aimed at inspiring others, and especially children.
This is why I'm here on Patreon looking to offer more about my passion for comics and their ability to inspire and educate than I really could anywhere else.

Thank you for pledging, thank for your sharing, thank you for teaching and reading.

Yours in comic study,
Ryan K Lindsay
Tiers
Scholarship Fund
$1 or more per month 2 patrons
You want to see more comics soaking in brain juices around the world. Thank you.

You'll have access to some random posts about comics and pages and things to make you smile and enjoy comics and the world in which they are made just that little bit more.

You'll also be helping me take the mental space to create these study guides, and for that I'm gonna thank you eternally.

Comic Book Study Hall

COMIC BOOK STUDY GUIDES - will be sent out twice a month, featuring a variety of comic content covered, for teachers to use in their classroom, or smart readers to use to engage their critical analysis of the stories/medium they so clearly love.
Audio Study Tour
$5 or more per month 17 patrons
STUDY GUIDE PODCAST - you'll also get early access to a podcast episode where I'll unpack one of the month's Study Guides.

PROCESS POSTS - I'll  post process thoughts/analysis of various comics, pages, covers, etc that could be used as mini-lessons/discussions in classrooms.
